have you ever heard of the phrase "Don't argue with idiots because from a distance nobody can tell who is who??"

maybe you should sit back reread my post and think about that for a moment.

I would rather be confused a fool than let you feel ignored.

That's not funny, that's actually rather unfortunate.

If someone can barely contain their actions, and religion is the only thing holding their true nature at bay...

Well, many Catholic children would probably question the length and gauge of such shackles.

In a philosophy class I took freshmen year were talking about the Ring of Gyges and one kid was adamant that his behavior wouldn't change at all "because God would still see him." The teacher pressed him on that, but he remained firm, so the teacher asked "okay, well, what if God didn't exist." After about 15 minutes of "but God does exist" "I'm asking hypothetically" "but God does exist", the kid finally said that if God didn't exist and he had the Ring of Gyges, he would do whatever would make him better off, even going so far as to kill his own mother if it would help him. While I'm sure we've all felt that way about our parents at some point, I definitely made a point to sit far from that kid for the term, as well as to avoid him in general as much as I could. I guess it's good that he has religion, and I ing hope he never gets schizophrenia.

One of my points, precisely. Yet some people freak out the moment I say I don't want to end all religion, and it may be actually a good thing at times.

Not that I believe all religious folks are like this twisted kid, but to cite yet another example, a friend has recently come back from Khartoum (Sudan) and he mentioned how peaceful the city is thanks to - wait for it - Islam. In a failed state, that's surely better than nothing.

Yes, of all the atrocities religion has prevented, murder and genocide are at the top if the list.

People would have found a reason to commit genocide even if religion never existed.

That's not an arguement for religion though.
srussell0018
It wasn't meant to be.

Do you really think that those people in charge who committed Genocide were super religious?? or were they just using religion as way to manipulate and control their people?

Religion has been around for thousands of years. Now look around you and tell me if you think it worked.

Religion is flawed and we need to move on just like what Dawkins' says in the OP's video.
