Naturally, there's only one side that's right and the side that is wrong will be convinced of their error with scathing ridicule.

Scathing ridicule serves to shake the one who is wrong out of their entrenchment in their ignorance-is-bliss comfort zone. But what will convince them after this is reason and evidence.

Do you have anything which proves this; some peer reviewed article published in a journal, a book, something?

Ridicule is, in some cases, the best response possible. Do you really think I should give as much respect to the guy who believes Earth is only 6000 years old as I do to scientists who study geology, paleontology, archeology, biology, and many other fields for decades and conclude that the world is actually billions of years old? Sorry, but the young-earth nutter WILL be ridiculed, and I don't care if his feelings are hurt.
The word "respect", is nothing but an appeal to emotion and is used in both religion and politics to demand submission. On a personal level it is used to say "dont bruise my ego".
I like the word "value" and I do not value blind loyalty or taboos. I do value strictly from a human rights stanpoint the right to express even absurd opinions, but I am under no obligation to value the opinion itself nor am I obligated to give ANY claim taboo status. If one makes a claim and cannot demonstrate that claim as being valid outside personal bias, than it can only rightfully remain as a social club meme and nothing more.
"Ridiclue is the only weapon which can be used against uninteligible propositions" Thomas Jefferson
"The first person to hurl an insult instead of a stone started civilization" Frued
The theist or PC left who demand "play nice" in all contexts all the time do not understand that without questioning you end up with fascism, and you stagnate in the past. If our species never questioned social norms our species never would have left the caves.
North Korea and Iran are examples of states with taboos. Christianity in the west used to be as oppressive as those states but it was in spite of Christianity, not because of it, that its fascist grip was broken PRECISELY because people dared to question.

Would you still bother if they just kept it in the bedroom ? Surely an atheist would understand nature's trend to diversify. Rallying to end stupidity outright is sort of fighting evolution. Which is ironic from an atheists standpoint. One could even argue that it's role has an evolutionary under pinning. I think this is where atheists annoy people. Fair game to telling people that meddle where religion should not to off but to prescribe universally is unrealistic. Some people do not have the luxury of criticial thought.

Why do people still insist that a higher authority is needed to justify mankind's most fundamental values.
I don't want to harm others, because a society without those kinds morals would put me in great danger. Working in groups and caring for others is what made us a species survive in the wild.
God didn't demand us to be good people, Mother Nature did.

the way you used a talk about religion as a springboard for your prowess, in rare music, even if mistaken regarding the actual white label in question, is not obvious at all.
