i stick with the vinyl, dunno just add's that special thing about music .. give's me a better feeling .. of controlling it ..

My experience is that CD's mix easier...

Which is complete bull, the only real difference would be the cue point, which takes about 5-6 seconds longer to find on a vinyl, big difference.

I've followed the whole discussion, and I am planning on buying 2 cd-decks or 2 phono's, but I don't know which one yet. So basically you say that cd's have a better sound quality, but the best songs(and mostly by unknown artists) come out on vinyl and not on cd don't they?

From reading what others do I'm going to buy a better turntable, and more vinyls. Then I'll save them as wav files to preserve them hehe. :D
Then i can sell many of the vinyls, but still keep some really special ones.

in what way does VINYL improve the sound? I always thought it was an outdated media with lots of flaws..

It doesn't. Technically it's impossibly to recognize if a song is being played by cd or vinyl.

The only problem there is, is that a vinyl starts to sound worse after a while. The sleeves get damaged by the needle scratching on the vinyl.
It is an outdated medium, but it is still the best one to actually FEEL/SEE the music.
There is no audio difference 'cuz of the RIAA correction.

My boss is going to buy me a setup for a gift, but I can't decide which to go with, CDJ's or Turntables.

My question is this, for someone who will casually learn how to mix and is just starting out, which should I go with? I don't have any plans to be playing inside any clubs anytime soon...

vinyl = harder but more fun, expensive media
Cd = More expensive in players, but cheaper media.

I've got two cdj100s and a 1200MK2. Once you know how to beatmatch, its a skill thats transferable to both. Once I get a better PC though, I'll be uploading the vinyl to CDR and preserving it.

vinyl is def more fun though :o
