Actually, if you're an evangelical vinyl purist, go ahead and post your arguments about how REAL DJs only use vinyl--I won't mind. I need some cheering up, so be kind and give me a laugh.

Richie Hawtin will be doing some of the music for the Olympics opening ceremonies. He's pretty far beyond the vinyl & turntables that some people are so fanatic about.

I saw some videos about him and his methods recently, he said he took advantage of the power of computers to assist in beatmatching, and that allowed him to deal better with more creative aspects of the mix. This is something that users of Traktor and Ableton have been doing and talking about for a while.

If you are switching tp digital you might as well do it right like Chris liebing (the best dj in the world) and Speedy j (the best producer in the world).
They are not backcuing cd decks like geeks in the sakes of Pioneers product placement, they are touring the world with 4 powerbooks, 3 allen & heath mixers, a 303 ,a 303 clone,Ableton live, traktor dj studio,1 evolution midi controller, 1 bitstream 3x midi controller as well as various other stuff you can hopefully identify for me.
Pics?

Those small boxes are the faderfox controllers for ableton live. What is that thing between the two allen and heaths in the first picture? Thought it was an Elektron Monomachine at first, but its not??

I like vinyl because it sounds the best for scratching and backspins i think the difference in sound could be attributed to the fact that turntables pick up vibration from peoples hand and so it sounds a lot different then if there is no hand movement
