Don't worry dude, I know they sound different when scratching. It's just your reasoning that's not quite spot on.
The reason it doesn't sound the same is due to the technical properties of a digital file vs vinyl and not due to the vibrations from your hand as you stated.
But you are correct, they do sound different.

well am a big vinyl guy but with the availablity of buying WAV files now for cheap i have been getting alot of my favorite tracks on WAV....I am not a big cd user but have been messing with the WAVs(WAV to CD) and can say vinyl DEFINATELY sounds much better.....maybe its because of the media or maybe because of the needle and table its going through.....that i dunno......or maybe the cdj1000 sound like crap
but one thing i will say is that u have to be prepared with both.....you go to a gig and there wacked decks or people dancing sending needles skipping across the records....u can go to the cd players and fix that problem.....
but with costs the way they are i will continue to go with the WAV files (WAV to Cd)unless is an extrodinary track |

Good point. Also, high-quality 320KhZ mp3 files are available straight from the labels that put the tracks on vinyl. In the end, no one in the audience gives 2 s whether you're on vinyl or cd, as long as they're dancing their asses off. The only ones that really care are the egos of other dj's and the audiophiles.
At the end of the night, if people are dancing and having a good night, the job of the dj has been successful. On a side note, however, I do prefer vinyl much better compared to CD because of the tactile nature of the medium. The CDJ-1000's sure come damn close though.

| vinyls have the better audio quality but in all fairness they can be a pain in the ass if they get scratched thats it no more vinyl but if you scratch cd's all you need to do is burn another copy, the same goes for when your vinyl gets 'lost' at the airport how are you supposed to replace that where as with cd you will always have back up copys |

things i hate about vinyl:
1) when you are mixing outside and the wind blows the needle
2) skipping needles or record
3) no "good" master pitch
4) tonearm getting accidently hit
5) skipping caused by unstable platform
things i hate about cds:
1) everything |

vinyl only typically has a better audio quality (when compared to an mp3 encoded at 320kbps) because that's what the majority of club's audio systems are set up for...
I buy records when I can the tracks i want on vinyl... but typically rip them to wave, then cd (when i get time) before playing out... |
