in holland we have a saying:
Verandering van spijs doet eten.
Direct translation: Changing your type of food means eating.
Meaning: Changing a habbit or trying something new is important and exiting. |

| We also say: Die Bass Moet Je Niet horen, Die Moet Je Voelen |

Hello all,
I will be visiting Amsterdam and Berlin (and maybe Ibiza) with a friend or two in either July or August (depending on events and so on). What I need help on is with some direction on what clubs/bars/pubs are good and any happening events. I am looking for:
1. Any good clubs that play electronic music (I like techno hard and minimal, trance of course, breaks and so on) whether it is a big and popular club or a small one.
2. Also of any big events (like I know Awakenings just took place).
3. Of any tourist attractions and so, anything interesting that you would recommend (like red light area and so on- I won’t partake but it sounds like fun to visit =)
4. Of any pubs/bars where university type crowd or older crowd hang out and it is known for picking up and what not.
If anyone could guide me with help in terms of names, locations and street info. that would be greatly appreciated…
p.s I don’t kill baby seals.
p.s.s A backpacker told me traveling within Europe from country to country is very easy either by plane or train…is this true? I mean commuting from Amsterdam to Berlin might be easy but the reason we are staying away from Ibiza is because it might be just a bit harder..
Thanks a lot. |

1.clubs:
Amsterdam: Panamaa, hotel arena, powerzone, kingdome venue
2. Festival:
Dance Valley 14/15 july
Extrema 15 july
Mysteryland 26 august
Awakenings: 1 july
+ many many more
3. red light distric, coffeshops, a lot of good museums in amsterdam. The canals.
4. don't know the student bars. But at the Leidseplein and rembrantplein there are a lot of bars and pubs. Asking around helps a lot.
I don't know what your visa is saying but if you got a visa for entire europe then it is not a problem. You can visit all the european country how much as you want. Also it is easy to travel with plane, train or automobile HOWEVER it is summer so big chance flights/trains and hotelrooms are full or almost full and you pay a high price. |

Hello. I'm flying from the US to AMS on August 4.. staying until the 6th.. then flying to Ibiza.
We're planning on checking out Panama the Friday night we arrive, hitting up tourist areas Saturday during the day [shopping for clothing/records] then the Red light district Saturday night
Since we're only there two nights and have a very early flight Sunday morning.. any suggestions on where we should stay? Hostels.. hotel.. anything really, just somewhere decently safe. And something close to the airport if that's possible.
Thanks :) |
