it was nice to see someone with a video camera coming out to film the disaster of a line going on downstairs which i found highly irritating (if you're editing it, i'm the guy giving you the finger :D). anyway, it could have been worse; i could have been tripping balls waiting in line watching the sun come up like most other ppl or been that guy who took his BeB costume way too seriously (if i planned to attend this event over a year ago and been denied entry, i'd have burned the sucker down). anyway, i def agree that house room was going nowhere, the tech room lit it up. all the energy was in there.

eagerly awaiting press release

hey guys, anyone care to make a mini-list of massives you guys throw up there? (and aroudn what time they occur) My friends are freakin that they missed this and they would like to plan a trip up (hopefully not have to wait a year) to another big party. (and you know I am all about trips across the border) :) :)

Not regular club events: nyc has a big dj 4 times a week and even more events in small clubs a week.(yes we are spoiled in that sense). lol BUT we have literally NO massives in nyc, so that is what we are looking for. :)

Massives in Montreal

Massives are basically huge raves. By huge, we're talking over 5000 people, partying their asses off, in some rented venue that has been fixed up, enhanced both digitally and visually, to cater to your utmost sensual desires. Traditionally, the 5 largest massives have been BAL EN BLANC, SWIRL, CREAM, BLACK & BLUE and CELEBRATION (see descriptions below), although that varies according to promoters' creativity, venue availability and so forth.

BAL EN BLANC

BAL EN BLANC is the biggest and baddest massive of the year, held on Easter Sunday, every year. This massive has traditionally had two different rooms, catering to the House populace and the Trance/Techno afficionados. BAL EN BLANC 2005 was held in Montreal's biggest convention center, Le Palais Des Congres, on the 27th of March 2005, where over 15 000 people scantily clad in white from head to toe went crazy.

***Check out information for BAL EN BLANC 2006, which will be held on Easter weekend on April 16th 2006!!***

To get to the Palais des Congres by public transportation, your best bet would be to take the Metro to Place D'Armes on the Orange Line. Click here.

SWIRL

SWIRL was back in 2005 in full force after being cancelled in 2004. This massive had different styles represented, including Hip Hop (in a different room), techno and trance, and was held on May 22nd of 2005 at the Olympic Stadium, the former home of the now defunct Montreal Expos.

SWIRL 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

CREAM

CREAM is traditionally held on Labour Day Weekend (first weekend of September), every year. This massive tends to also be House oriented, so enjoy your "no-work" holiday in Montreal while listening to some bangin' House tunes. CREAM is traditionally held at the Bell Center, but unfortunately was cancelled in 2005 due to organizational complications.

CREAM 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

BLACK & BLUE

This massive has traditionally been a gay event, hosted by the BBCM (Bad Boy Club of Montreal), a volunteer-based non-profit organization giving financial support to groups providing direct care to people living with HIV/AIDS. Please donate generously. BLACK & BLUE 2005 was held at the Olympic Stadium, on October 9th 2005.

BLACK AND BLUE 2006 information will be posted as soon as it's made available.

CELEBRATION

CELEBRATION is the last massive of the year, held on New Year's Eve, every year. This massive tends to be House oriented, so if you're thinking of dancing the night away on the 31st of December into the 1st of January, and enjoy good House music, this event is for you. CELEBRATION 2005 is being held in the Bell Center, officially the home of the Montreal Canadiens. Approximate attendance for this event varies between 6000 and 8000 people.

To get there by public transportation, your best bet would be to take the Metro to Lucien L'Allier or Bonaventure on the Orange Line. Click here.

^^:haha: sorry I figured that thread would be more focused on restaurants, hotels, sights, etc, so I didn't even bother looking. Thanks for the info.

BUT FAHAD what I really wanted was peoples OPINIONS on which one to go to, which is not in what you posted, face. I love you anyways. kthxbye.

PS: I hate house music for the most part. I want techno! (or trance!)

that's sooo out of date.

Black and Blue - Thanksgiving weekend - strictly house (one room)
Resolution (formerly Celebration) - NYE - usually one or two trance headliners and house (one room)
Bal en Blanc - Easter Weekend - trance/tech room and house room
Cream (new name forthcoming) labour day weekend - see Resolution

I think there's one beach one and maybe another one...not sure. So that's four or five per year, would be great to add one more.

EDIT: if you hate house, please stay home :p

I correct myself: I am PICKY about house. thats what I should have said. I love...hmm....hernan, cox, morillo sometimes, danny t.....I am bad with genres outside of tech and trance, so please forgive if I am mislabeling.
