Not regular club events: nyc has a big dj 4 times a week and even more events in small clubs a week.(yes we are spoiled in that sense). lol BUT we have literally NO massives in nyc, so that is what we are looking for.

I don't mean to be rude but I've partied in NYC, my first two years in the scence were in NYC, and the regular clubs are crap. The vibe is all about style and looks not the music or the people. Sure you might get big DJ's but the local scence and the local DJ's are non existant. I've noticed you love preach. Preach, not counting misstress barbara and many others, got there start in the MTL afterhour scene. Mtl massives are great and I've been to many but now I only go to B&B. This because I think the real beauty of the scene in MTL lies in the afterhours or the wharehouse parties. IF you want to show your friends what MTL is all about you should bring them to Ferry @ circus. Formula one weekend is, for me, one of the best nights to party in MTL and there are never any massives on that weekend usually just a great DJ at one afterhour. The best time I ever saw Tiesto was at ARIA on Formula one not a y massive with crapy sound. Plus if you love trance you are going to fall in love whith Nick, another great local and my fav, wich is opening up for Ferry that night. Oh and its alot of fun coming out of the club and hearing all the cars driving around.

And as for no massives in NYC doesn't PVD do a central park massive every year.

Sorry if I came off harsh:p

some of you prolly saw this already, I just stumbled on it today. Seems pretty common after a typical massive but I'm glad there's no death reports. Stuff like that could kill massives.

15 people arrested on drug charges at Bal en Blanc

The Gazette

Published: Tuesday, April 10, 2007
Police arrested 15 people during the 13th annual Bal en Blanc rave party at the Palais des congres in Montreal over the Easter weekend.

Twelve revellers were charged with possession of narcotics and two others were charged with trafficking.

An estimated 15,000 people, some from as far as Australia, attended the circuit rave party that featured DJs from around the world.

Re: "15 people arrested on drug charges at Bal en Blanc" (www.montrealgazette, April 10).

Of about 15,000 ravers, 15 were arrested for narcotics possession. This represents 0.1 per cent of the partygoers.

Using 1997 figures for all drug offenses in Canada, 0.22 percent of the population was charged with some type of offence.

Font: ****How exactly is it newsworthy when drug arrests are made at an event at the rate of less than half of the national average for the general population?

Does The Gazette make a habit of reporting every drug arrest that occurs in the city? Or is it merely yet another attempt by the media to sensationalize raves as a venue for narcotics consumption?

Saying it's that small of a percentage doesn't really sensationalize it, but I dunno, you might be right about it.

Just curious, possession of narcotics/trafficking?

How much does one need to actually have to get charged?

I mean, if you were caught with a pill, would you actually get a charge for that? (highly doubt it, but curious.)

Did anyone witness anyone getting booked by the cops/undercover?

I couldn't help to notice at the pat-down/check, there was simply a line with a ton of shoes filled in a tub. I simply didn't go into that line because I didn't want to take my shoes off.

The check kinda sucked in my opinion. I can see tons of people getting stuff in easily lol.

edit: in toronto, i mean if your not trying to bring in a kilo of cocaine or something, the bouncers just take it away from you.

although ^^^ not directed at me i don't think you are being rude by saying major clubs are all about looks and whatnot because a LOT of them are. there is still a good group of people who go to hear the music though and our locals do have the opportunity to showcase their talent but at smaller venues like love & sullivan room. we don't have a lot of warehouse parties in the city anymore so i think that aspect of the scene might be dead here...from what i hear, too many problems with the police. i'm happy that the DJs make NYC a frequent destination and honestly TONS of people enjoy their sets and the people who are there for looks purposes and whatnot disappear by ~3:00am.

as for PvD in the park i wouldn't call that a massive; he's here for two days from ~4 - 10 and the aim is to make it an all ages event so you see people with their 7 year old kids dancing around to the music right along with club goers. personally, i went last year and i don't plan on going again cause it wasn't good.
