John Kerry didn't seem to have a problem with the question. |
Yeah, he tried to give it the best(diplomatic) response he could muster, I am sure. However, he was the one in control - and did not speak loud enough. Nobody in that room spoke up for the guy being tackled by security. Because he was rude? Because he was crazy? Then again, considering the sort of people who would attend a John Kerry forum in Florida, I suppose I am not surprised nobody spoke up.
| quote: | | Obviously, a forum such as this one cannot be expected to necessarily allow time for everyone to ask every question they would like to ask. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that people will not interrupt the forum to ask their question out of turn, nor I do think it's unreasonable to expect that people who disrupt the forum in such a manner ought to be removed. Now, if you want to argue that the officers overreacted or used more force than was appropriate, by all means do so. But trying to turn this into some incident of political suppression is precisely, in pkc's words, characterising an incident incorrectly. |
My concerns for this guy are not on a personal level. He was an ass. He was being a loud addle-pate (lolol) and speaking out of turn. My concern here is how so many people seem to immediately take the side of order - or the side of silence, which is basically the same submissive temperament - and to support the actions of suppressive campus cops empowered by the Patriot Act to use whatever force they feel is necessary. Was this man tackled in a public park for committing thought-crime? No. But the day is coming when everything in the US will be privatized the the degree where it is impossible to express your opinions - however outrageous they may be - in the presence of others without being under the scrutiny or the boot-heel of fascism.
But I guess most people are a fan of being reasonable and waiting until they give you a turn to speak.
It's worked out great so far, right? Just look at the state of things. Happiness in every corner of the land. :gsmile:

You're a long way from being President now Johnny boy. |
I think this may be what bothers me the most. When even our politicians - the ones who are supposed to represent the people - are just as afraid and meek as everyone else. I can't think of a single politician who isn't afraid of doing something brave because it would, no doubt, affect the chance of their being re-elected. :/ |

If you can prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was worth anything more than the from my anus, I'll eat my hat.
There's a big difference between making a point and being an ass. This is a fine example of the latter. |

Going on the record and saying this kid does NOT represent Weston in any way, shape or form. Cops are pigs. Makin' bacon with tasers in this case was uncalled for and completely unnecessary, but I don't expect nothing honorable from the fags in blue. Wow, took 5 of of them to bring down one skinny white kid. s musta had nothin' better to do or were on Kerry's take in case he couldn't answer some tough questions. Nice work.
That is all. |
