doesnt matter kerry was not greatly disturbed by his behavior and did not agree with what the cops were doing.

if the forum speaker is fine with it, it would seem that only the police felt threatened.

he wasn't being arrested, he was being escorted out.

The police didn't arrest me; they merely cuffed me, threw me to the ground, and then escorted me to a holding facility.

quote:
He was the one who was violent in the first place. Watch the video again, they grab his arms and try to escort him out (not violently however, just forcefully). And then he starts flailing and yelling. And seriously, people need to quit it with the nazi comparisons, i've been hearing it wayyyy too much lately.

Oh and here's the big difference, they didn't taser and subdue someone they didn't want to hear. They tried to peacefully remove someone who was disrupting the forum, and when met with violence from him, subdued him, and then when met with more violence and non-cooperation, tasered him. People, he didnt get tasered for his political views, or for disrupting the forum. He got tasered for assaulting a ing police officer.

Violence from him? Assaulting a police officer? Are we talking about the same incident?

Two people grabbed him by the arms and tried to pull him away. He resisted. He didn't hit anyone. Since when is it not okay to resist two people actively trying to squelch you? Since they are armed? Since they are officially designated representatives of peace, order and civility?

See, this is the kind of indoctrination I was talking about before. The law must always be right because it's-... it's the law!

And I really wish some of you would stop with the "well he was being a disruptive ass" thing. This isn't elementary school. The Government is not and should not be the teacher. People should not be sent to time-out for being too talkative, just as they shouldn't be pinned down and shocked by police for not observing appropriate forum etiquette.

Allow me to re-iterate a point I was trying to make earlier:

This incident is not an example of somebody's "rights" being violated in any moral sense. This is just stupidity. He acted like an ass and faced the "consequences" for doing so in a privately-regulated premises. The actual events are not all that important. What is important, however, is that people question where it ends. This is not an entirely isolated incident of police brutality - naturally, it seems all the much worse because it was recorded, so the reactions are really not all that surprising, but this is just the start of something really terrible in this country. It's not even necessarily a matter of excessive force rates going up or down; it's a matter of them being fully approved by governing forces and legislation empowering people to enforce order of the strictest brand, seemingly at the discretion of individuals. I'm not a big fan of letting cops do whatever they please, so maybe my mistrust has made me extremely biased.

In any case, I'd rather be vigilant and wrong than complacent and right when it comes to the subtle encroachment that I see going on.
