Aww come on. I would have thought you would know that there is a 60" max.

quote:
No stick shall exceed sixty inches (60') in length from the heel to the end of the shaft nor more than twelve and one-half inches (12 1/2") from the heel to the end of the blade.

The blade of the stick shall not be more than three inches (3") in width at any point nor less than two inches (2"). All edges of the blade shall be beveled. The curvature of the blade of the stick shall be restricted in such a way that the distance of a perpendicular line measured from a straight line drawn from any point at the heel to the end of the blade to the point of maximum curvature shall not exceed one-half inch (1/2").

There are a handful player that have been granted exception. 6-foot-9 Zdeno Chara has such an exemption, as do eight other players. The others are Chris Pronger (Anaheim), Hall Gill (Pittsburgh), Jeff Schultz (Washington), Stephen Valiquette (New York Rangers), Tyler Myers (Buffalo/Kelowna), Vladimir Mihalik (Tampa Bay), Brian Boyle (Los Angeles) and Mitch Fritz (New York Islanders).

A player must be at least 6-foot-6 in height to be considered for the exemption.

The Canucks list Mitchell at 6-foot-3.

it just keeps on getting worse. :(

LEN, i would expect you to know that the rule has not been enforced (other than the curve) ever since the number of players that are like 6'7 has increased. They discussed it at the winter meetings last year because of chara and agreed that it was impossible to handicap taller players. The rule has not been revised yet and in the rule book or not, when was the last time you saw a penalty assessed for stick length? I can tell you that there are at least 40 guys off the top of my head that play with longer sticks that are allowed, everyone knows it, but no one will call penalties on it.

these rules were drawn up before the era of the big men in the nhl. In the 70's it was normal to have only maybe 4 or 5 guys on the team over 6 feet, and there were no giants really back then.

what's that say elfreak? the kosyn brothers saying hamrlik is a member of organized crime?
elFreak
they are very big friends with a big wig that got arrested in a sting that nabbed 50 of the biggest drug kingpins in town last week. Good friends in the sense that there is a possibility of criminal charges being brought...news conference at 2, i'll know more then.

awesome game, Montreal superior than pittsburgh...stuff happens.

good to see new jersey up there, but god do i hate boston as a whole.

Columbus v. Washington looks like the one to watch tonight...

Things are not looking good for the Habs.

is that really a bad thing for the hasbeens? they were demoting these clowns anyway and sending kovalev on a forced vacation. their gm is probably wishing half the scrubs would wind up in jail so that he could get rid of them for good. was a fan of hamrlik until he got raped in the ass by ovechkin.

your rangers suck bad too:p

I was at a game just now where a guy got a.. hear this... 5+20+5+20 penalty! So our team played pp for ten minutes straight, which was nice.

First he cross-checked a guy in the back, and 2 seconds later he speared another guy!

Funniest part is that someone of you know(?) his name, David Ling.

I haven't even seen that Kipper save, I taketh it was pretty awesome.

I am proud of Finnish goalies, so ing proud.

most mid level russians lack grit, and the game here is a lot rougher than back home.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
