The Official NHL 2008-2009 Season (pg. 74)

yeah that avalanche team that roy played on was pretty defensively LOL. both goalies on that team had a gaa of 2.20 and not only that they had sakic, forsberg, and hejduk in their prime + bourque, foote, de vries, skoula, etc. who were actually really good in clutch and grab nhl. the debate can go the other way as far as montreal being a better offensive team and making up for mediocre seasons by roy such as 92-93 where roy had an 89 save percentage and 3.20 gaa and still won over 30 games. half of brodeur's wins have come in 1 goal games according to mike emrick the devil's announcer LOL. almost 20% have been shutouts as well. going back to those awards though, they really don't mean as scott stevens never won a norris trophy and had a season of +53. in fact the only time a devil won the norris trophy was neidermeyer in 2004.

as am i.

also i do agree, roy really was the backbone of that team. rob blake was fantastic but overall they were always an offensive team first. if roy faltered they all failed. game 7 of the 2002 conference final was a prime example, i felt like they all left him hanging. i remember being angry obviously but mostly angry at the rest of the team although this:

will always make me grimace. stupid move, would have been a 1 goal difference and they could have tied it and ended the series in 6 and beat carolina for two cups in a row but should woulda couldas don't count for .

I can't imagine the HABS being able to win the cup in 93 without Roy, it's impossible. The guy was incredible and I owe him my respect.

I'd choose Roy over Brodeur anyday.

Patrick is my all-time favourite, love his attitude just as much as I love his skills. :)

Also...

OJ is in Flaaaames, hot is one thing but two games 5+2 :eyespop:

Patrick Roy was not a gentleman like Brodeur is, and sometimes i loved him for it, other times hated him for it. The love hate relationship the city of Montreal had with him was like something out of general hospital.

When i was about 10 my hockey team got the chance to skate with him for 30 minutes as a Christmas gift to us by our coach. They had lost 5 to 1 the night before, and my father being quite the accomplished drunk made the comment, "If Brian Hayward was in nets we would have only lost 2 to 1."

On the ice, when i got a few minutes alone with my idol of the time i repeated my father's words of the night before, he simply replied in french to me (remember i was 10) ," If your father knew what he was talking about , you would be skating with him."

so true lol.

When Roy left mtl i hated him. But i will always have a soft spot for this outspoken hero of my youth. The league needs more big mouth players to promote the sport.

this is jay, i just made an alt because neo died and my ban is over.:p

There he is! Glad to see you back.

Just went to the sharks/ducks last night to see the sharks clinch a spot in the playoffs. Fan-intastic! Moen getting the GWG on the team that let him go a few weeks ago. Nabby finally looks healthy, just in time. There were almost as many shark fans as ducks...and the rest was empty. Shark fans were drowning out duck fans...it was like they were asleep. kinda sad.

that is awesome.

one of my favorite comments is:

L.E.N.
in Corey Perry is trying some bull on accusing Nabokov of kicking him. Watching the video shows a different story. That cheap was trying to his legs up. He just got back from a lower body injury. needs to be punished.

Going to the Habs-losers game on saturday...

in other news, the HABS got their own dollar coin:

I also heard, the Toronto Losers will get their coin in 2017 to celebrate their 50th anniversary without a cup.:stongue: :stongue:

Grabovski's going to break Kosyn's leg and score on Carey Price... glove side.

Kari Lehtonen -- Lehtonen is a big reason Atlanta is playing its best hockey of the season. He's 4-0-0 in his last four starts and has allowed just five goals while posting a pair of shutouts.

Saved 49/50(!) last night :)

edit: And mad props to Atlanta for giving Salmela some proper time on the ice, and on the pp, 21:50 minutes worth. :)
