uhm.. no.. they're not black either.. u know there are more than two "races"?
spanish people are southern european.. most likely decedents of middle eastern people.. probably mixed in some northern european (vikings) and perhaps some black somewhere down the line... |

Are you saying that people from the United States don't refer to themselves as "Americans" and their country as "America"? :haha:
Give me a break. |
I am saying that Mexicans and Canadians would never refer to themselves as North Americans or Americans. |

| People from the U.S. call themselves "Americans" because that is their shorthand for "citizens of the United States of America." There is no other convenient shorthand. USians? USAers? |

I know what you're saying and if you want to get all technical..yes. But these days when one says " American " We are referring to people from the United States of American, that funny shaped country, the one below Canada which also is part of North AMERICA yet not called Americans. It's just a term to set us apart. It's the only country within North America that contains "America" ( I think ) so it's only right, no? |
Yes, I am well aware at how the term is used these days. I'm not arguing that, whenever I hear someone talk about "America" in the news it is obvious to me what they are talking about. What I'm arguing is that the term is a misappropriation. Is that really that hard to understand? |

Only as much a "misappropriation" as the name "United States of America" is. |
