Oh no, not that. Anything but that. lol, you probably won't change my opinion on it in any case.
I'm just saying what I would rather. I realize it won't happen, and no I haven't sat and thought through every possible facet of how to get it to work. As it stands, our current system is probably fine, the standards need to be raised, but I'm of the mentality of keeping the government out of people's lives as much as possible. That's all.
Oh, and die un-elite scum, die. |

The only way the free market system could lessen inequality while retaining good standards is if each family were given a certain number of "education credits" per child. The schools compete with one another for enrollment of the kids, and the "education credits" represent cash that will be paid to them by the government, basically private competition + public funding, with each kid having the same amount of "funds" available and the parents judging for themselves which schools are best. |
But where would these credits come from? A flat percentage tax on everyone or a locally funded thing? |

National income tax IMO.
People would whine about the increase on income tax, though. :p |

I am very much so about little government intervention in peoples every day lives, but I know that full on free market capitalism does not work either if we don't want to be reamed over the coals with no choice. |

| The "locally funded" part is why the school system is still ridiculously uneven. I actually support national standards and a national education system. Why should kids in Massachusetts get a good education while kids in Alabama get a ty one? Makes no sense to me... |

But as long as we're pro-choice we'll have fetuses to live off of. |
