I am just so disappointed in some of what I read in this thread.
Blah blah blah.
But lemme take a moment to plus one to elfreak. Jay, I always thought you were a funny a.s.s.h.o.l.e. but your posts in here show me that you also have a brain.
I don't understand the thread title "AKA mellymel is not at all racist." Someone else made those posts or Melly was just playing jokes?
AND AND AND I don't get why Nostalgic is suspended (is he?) when he doesn't seem at all racist to me (did I miss something? It seemed he was playing devil's advocate more than anything else) and if he's suspended how can you not suspend Melly? I don't want Melly to be suspended of course so I think I'm saying Nostalgic shouldn't be suspended either?

I'm just happy the campaigning is over -- nothing was more annoying than to have McCain use Palin to launch attacks on Obama only to later defend Obama by telling people they don't have to be afraid of him *AND* then going back to launching attacks/robocalling about his character all over again. wtf?
Palin just demonstrated that she was in over her head -- akin to lying on your resume about your qualifications for a certain position and then while being interviewed spewing out incoherent/garbled answers in order to hide your ignorance. She did make for a good cheerleader to the Repub base, though.. I'll give her that. |

i'd have to disagree with you there. trickle-down doesn't work in africa because too little of the populace has anything to send down the line. but you can see it happening at a frightening pace in china - despite their huge workforce wages are rising anyway. it all depends on the situation imo. |

| Trickle-down is a term applied to laissez-faire or low-regulation markets. China hardly fits that description by any stretch of the imagination. |

no it doesn't.
trickle-down refers to the process of economic prosperity (through free trade) flowing down from the top of a society to the bottom. so the rich people start buying cars, and the poor people get jobs to build more roads or become mechanics etc. it has virtually nothing to do with low regulation or laissez-faire, though of course both of these positions normally advocate trickle-down economics. |

It doesn't have anything to do with free trade. The idea is that lower taxes on the wealthy will cause them to buy more, which will give poor people more jobs -- you got that last part right. |
