I wouldn't call her either. She's a total gnawer! |

Ridiculous fear mongering.
Thanks to this lovely group of people for bringing us some good classic US Republican-style politicking. This b.s "THE SOCIALISTS" "THE SEPARATISTS"... is just about as good as the ignoramuses south of the mason-dixon who were calling on Americans to save themselves from Obama the muslim terrorist.
ffs... |

Buddy your ideals are very utopian really not feasible. I think you should re-read some literature on how socionomics and markets work. Also re-read your understanding of how socialistic systems work.
China's positive economic growth rate is not comparable to the US or Canada. Due to changing economic climate and increasing population, China requires a growth rate of 8% per year in order to meet population demands. They are poised to hit approximately 7.3% next year.
And again, Cuba. So much foreign investment, and a very poor health and social system. Hardly a success.
Anyways, this is the last time I bite the bait. |

He's a second year poli-sci student... they're all idealists. Reality is a 4th year course. |

If the house has no confidence, there should be an immediate election. Just because an unelected government supported by separatists is within our constitution, it doesnt make it ethical or morally right. Places like Venezuela and Cuba have constitutions too i might add. If dion and layton are so confident that this is the right thing to do, why are they afraid of an election?
The answer is clear. Michelle Jean should call another election and there should be a constitutional reform to ensure that this never is allowed to happen again. If Dion or Layton wins the majority share of votes, then they can do whatever they want. Until then, respect the decision of the people or ask for a new one. |
no, the answer is not clear.
we have a constitution and to reference those of other countries is idiotic. so you can pick and choose what parts of the constitution ought to be respected? give me a break...
isn't it you who *freaks out* when the courts "create law", for example? if you're so adament in other instances that THE LAW is followed, then you MUST respect the legitimacy of the opposition being permitted the option to form the gov't.
you can't have it both ways, just because something doesn't live up you to YOUR moral or ethical standard in this instance.
if you feel the constitution ought to be amended to prevent this situation from happening in the future, that's your opinon and Canada has a process by which to do so. The GG's responsibility is to determine if there is a likelihood that the coalition can form a stable gov't. Given that we JUST had an election and the gov't has already lost the confidence of the house...well...the pressure will be to allow a coaltion, like it or not (and I don't like it myself). |

I agree with those saying this coalition is hurting the Liberals (for a number of reasons). Dion was stepping down, amid widespread dissatisfaction with his leadership and performance in the elections, but now will be PM. Many Liberal supporters, and I include myself here, don't think the coalition is good for the country, despite wanting Harper out.
what one person mentioned on CBC this morning was how this will severely hurt the CPC too, specifically with ever getting a majority gov't, as Quebec is being further alienated.
The constant 'being in bed with the separatists' is a slap in the face to Quebecers. Regardless of what you think of the Bloc and it's raison d'etre, the FACT remains that the Bloc MPs were elected by the people. To dismiss the Bloc is to dismiss the voters of Quebec. |

Not ironic at all... a power hungry megalomaniac pleading to retain power when it is threatened is exactly what one would expect (this commentary is equally applicable to Mr. Martin and Mr. Harper). |

Can you soure that estimate? and the date of that estimate. Also that is part of the reason for them to invest directly into the economy to employ people to increase that to a level that insures employment for people. Unemployed people = lost productivity, equals retraction.

China is going to be in so much trouble in the near future and needs to start investing in something other than human capital to contribute towards their GDP growth.
China screwed themselves over a little while ago by implementing the one-child policy.
What do you think is going to happen to the Labour Force when majority of the population all of a sudden retires? Who's going to be able to take care of this population, let alone take over their jobs?
The Demographics of China is not looking to pretty.

... also the chinese traditionally take care of their family members - they have a much stronger family identity. Much of that was destroyed this side of the Pacific, which puts extra stress on public institutions. |
interesting point.
I wonder if much study is going on in that area...i.e. how that difference (if true and how substantial it is) relates to everything from public healthcare costs, welfare, housing, transportation, etc. |
