issues aside, this boils down to the CPC is no longer going to be permitted to govern as it pleases, without consequence.
that, independent of the issues, is a GOOD THING.
Harper was not given a majority mandate and he will no longer be able to act as if he does.
I'll skip arguing back and forth on the issues. Ending the subsidy is opportunistic and financially irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. It was a ploy and it backfired in a big way.
The fact remains the CPC discussed the possibility of a coalition when the Libs were in power, so crying foul over the possibility of being brought down now is yet more hypocrisy from the Harper gov't.
Maybe Harper should focus on working with the other parties instead of trying to do as he please? |

I think we should just let Quebec separate and then have an election.
Sounds like a great idea to me :D

I am confused by this whole situation.
Canadians overwhelmingly voted that they did NOT want Dion as a leader. But now he might be?! (at least until the next liberal leader is elected)
Seriously, how can this happen? If this boob ends up our leader I'm going to lose my mind. |

you can say Canadians overwhelmingly voted that they didn't want Harper as leader too....as more canadians voted against the CPC then voted for the CPC.
I agree that Dion shouldn't lead any coalition party but he is still leader of the official opposition and in a situation like this its typically the leader of the offical opposition that leads the coalition. |

This would make sense if an election were a binomial event...if you either voted for or against someone, and there were only 2 choices. But that's not how it is.
All you can say is that canadians voted for harper more than they voted for any other SINGLE leader. That's what's important. Just because someone voted liberal doesn't mean they don't mind if all of a sudden their vote is taken to mean they also support NDP. NDP and liberals are still very different parties. All they are going to do is squawk at each other over leadership and spending and jack will get done....which is exactly why they are trying to oust Harper - for being fiscally conservative. Canada does not need a stimulus package the way the UK or the US does. |

This is nothing more than a well-disguised coup. |

This is all petty only because of the reason the Liberals and NDP have given publicly for why they will finally consummate their inevitable union. It takes a man as petty as Harper to force these 2 parties together.
And he will never again see another political victory in his reign as Prime Mannequin of this country, |
