Here's a cool Win7 tip for a quick way to control window size and position:
Use the Windows Key (left side around CTRL and ALT) plus the arrow pad (up/down/left/right) to set window position. |
I've actually started using that function, It's pretty handy when you have to compare Windows.
One of the new features I'm finding most useful is the Windows peek - Just for moving between Windows (IM conversations, especially) it's incredibly well thought out.
I'm about a day in, and this wasn't as jarring or as abrupt a change as I thought it'd be. This is a DEFINITE winner in my books and so far it's been able to handle anything I've thrown at it. Will wait to see how it holds up after three months of consistent usage though.. Thus far, I'm cautiously optimistic.
PS. RC1 had better get here soon, I'm really looking forward to updating to the final version of IE8. |

its so good that I use it live too (have been for a few months now) and things that started slowing down in vista seem to magically work well in 7 |

does anyone else have a glitchy taskbar?
every now and then it starts flickering as i scroll on web pages or move windows around... (i guess it will be fixed in the final release) |
I had this problem with build 7000 too as well;
1. IE8 randomly not respnding then after 5seconds it works.
2. my sidebar would NEVER load
3. when copying files from a network share and it was under 1meg it would sit and calculate forever never actually copying file until you log off the machine
4. When accessing a network share (that you have rights too) and there are certian NTFS permission it would prompt you saying u do not have access but you can still browse the folders. but it pops up constantly so u have to browse between prompts, so annoying
5. sometimes my taskbar would show i have no windows open, forcing me to alt + tab.
6. They have yet too add a multi mon taskbar, forcing me to use ultra mon. |

I installed the 32bit version. I had to install win xp drivers to get my network card to work, I couldn't find any drivers that would work with my video card, and the sound drivers didn't work.
I'm not too impressed by Windows 7, I may give it another try when I get a new computer, but for now I'm formatting it and I'll keep running XP. |

Just got back the Windows 7 install fest at Microsoft headquarters dun dun dun.
A bit disappointed. They didn't have the latest build, this one was from early Jan. The staff were super helpful, and the food was awesome though. They didn't have a net connection in the room! Said it would be choked with everybody downloading the updates. Common MS, you know you have gigabit connection there, and everybody would be operating at 100mbps. It would have been fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. |

MSFT supports and uses 7000. Use other builds at your own risk. |
