the only thing not working with win7 for me is my s-video output...when connected, the driver keeps crashing...did win update and also tried rolling back to the original one, same results... |
What video card do you have? This may be a flat out incompatibility (I know it shouldn't be, but hey, I know like this happens and does exist) with S-Video and Win7. Or quite possibly, could be that no driver will properly support it anymore. I really don't know, as those connections are becoming quite rare now. |

well Win 7 claims to be 100% compatible with old hardware using driver compatibility etc. and this PC is vista compatible so I dunno what the cause for this is....when I install the original (older) driver, it works, but then it automatically updates (even with win updates on "ask before installing" or whatever)....will hope for it to be fixed.. |

Yeah, but we all know that you can't truly keep full compatibility with a lot of the architecture changes that have gone on with Win7. There will always be issues. Hopefully there will be a driver fix. |

August 6th for MSDN. The files on the disc have already leaked, but not the actual image from MS. |

Why? If you are smart, you know how to avoid the malware infected. SHA1 hashes are distributed with legit untouched ISOs. I can even link to tpb torrents that have the beta builds that have it. You just have to not be an idiot and download a modified version. |

Dell.ca has taken the wraps off its Windows 7 Upgrade Promotion.
If you purchase an eligible PC between June 26, 2009 and January 10, 2010 you'll be able to reserve a free upgrade to Windows 7. Once Windows 7 is released, you'll get a DVD with the free upgrade.
For the time being, it looks like all consumer Dell PCs (Inspiron, Studio, and XPS lines, as well as the Adamo) qualify.
It looks like all Vista configurations besides Vista Home Basic have free Windows 7 upgrades.

Since I work for an OEM, I can assure you this is the same promotion that ALL OEMs will be giving. Although, technically the upgrade does cost the company. So I am sure some of the smaller manufacturers will be charging since their volume is so low.
Also, MSDN/TechNet subscribers get their availability tomorrow Aug 6th. |

yea almost all retailers are giving free upgrades. This is actually a really awesome step in promotion. My sis actually ordered a dell last week (should be at her door today) and shall be getting the free upgrade to win7 upon release...
now she's convinced (by me obviously) to install win7 beta immediately....and I assume that the upgrade she gets will be a newer release than 7100?? |

| It'll likely be build 76XX or 7700 that she recieves. As far as I know, MS won't be supporting a method to upgrade from the RC to GA so I'd advise her to hold off. |
