72 hours with Win7
Write up on using Win7 for a few days. Has some info on how it actually affects day to day use / some minor problems /etc. Most other writeups I've read are all "ooh, new features" without actually getting into the usability/etc. |

That's what I'm running right now and so far I'm happy with it. As for Ultramon, it's great with my 3 widescreen monitors (my 50" HDTV is my 4th monitor), but ATI's Catalyst Control has many features I use instead of using Ultramons. I like Ultramon's feature of spreading a picture over all three monitors as a background as well as the extended taskbar feature. |

any more info on running it from an SDHC card? i have a 16gb card laying around and want to try it.
But from that video its really similar to my vista x64, other than the few quircks in the taskbar, everything else is really the same. |
I have a utility which converts an ISO to a USB card, so you can boot off of it, and install. Is that what you are looking for? |

WARNING: I ask that you not masturbate all over your screen looking at this sexy beast!
It so ing rocks! I was playing Need For Speed Undercover on my 24" widescreen monitor at a resolution of 1900x1200 will ALL settings cranked to the max. NOT ONE BIT OF HESITATION WHATSOEVER during game play. Oh, I guess I should mention that my CPU is the QX6700 Quad Core Extreme! (That chip alone cost more than most ppl spend on their entire systems).

Well that is the end of that experiment. My 'good' video card died, so I have to use an old GeForce4 series card, and Nvidia does not have any Vista drivers for that series.
Win7 runs well enough on this old system with software rending, but it is just too slow for me to try to live with it.
Back to XP it is!
What I liked in the brief visit:
- installation was a breeze, very simple, and straight forward (and pretty!)
- Boots pretty quickly
- Love the new taskbar, much closer to the way a task bar should work, KDE still has the best IMO
Cons
- some of the configuration windows seem a bit cluttered
- looks good, but some windows still have that old win95 look |

Ah yes, the 4870x2. Nice. Far too expensive for what it is, though. I hardly play games anymore, so I just can't justify the cost. My 8800GT does the trick.
As for the QX6700, I hope you've overclocked it or you totally wasted all that money for nothing. You pay for an unlocked multiplier with that sucker. I am currently running a Pentium Dual Core E2160 overclocked to 3.4GHz, but on Monday I ordered a Core 2 Quad Q8200 ($209, woo) and intend to overclock the out of it as well. |

I've yet to overclock on a continuous bases. My MOBO, an ASUS P5Q Deluxe, has certain automatic overclocking features. I'll overclock when the processor asks for more, this way it saves power under normal conditions. I want to push the processor to it's max, but I don't know enough about overclocking to get er done. It's starts to get "funky" when it's overclocked to 15% over the 2.6GHZ while all cores are at 100% when I'm rendering one of my HD videos. I'd love some advice.
FWIW, I paid $1,100+ the Christmas before last for the CPU. It WAS the fastest production consumer CPU on the market at that time. |

What sort of CPU cooling do you have on there, and which brand/model power supply? |
