Hahah, classic theme. I'll never understand why people used it. There is and never was any reason to use the Classic theme in any OS after 95/98 as far as I'm concerned. It isn't faster and it looks like . Especially in Vista.

Well that is the end of that experiment. My 'good' video card died, so I have to use an old GeForce4 series card, and Nvidia does not have any Vista drivers for that series.

I had a similar problem. I installed Win7 on an older box with an Nvidia Quadro4 XGL 380 and I wasn't able to get dual displays to work properly. I wanted to extend my desktop but I was only able to get the same screen on both displays (like clone mode). I had no multiple display drop down in the display settings. I checked the video card driver that Win7 installed and it was a generic standard VGA adapter. Went to the Nvidia site to download Vista drivers but they don't exist for my video card.

Are some of the features dependent on specs somehow? I can't seem to get the first feature from the video to work. It's "alt+tab" right?

Yes, they are. You have to have hardware capable of running the Aero interface (you'll notice that everything is glossy and opaque). Also, it's Winkey + Tab. Flip3D, it's called. Completely useless, and it was in Vista before.

Looks sweet though.

Oh ok. Yea it works now thanks. My specs are pretty good so I was wondering why I couldn't get it.

So has anyone experienced any crashes or bugs yet? I've already had 1 crash and 1 bug that forced me to restart.

No crashes or bugs for me yet on 2 machines...

dont think hes talking about classic theme...but rather classic view (example: in control panel...classic view displays everything as opposed to categories)

Oh, I see. I must've misinterpreted it then. Well, you can actually view all categories. I'm in Vista right now, but if I recall correctly there's a tiny button near the top left of the window you click to show all categories instead of having them grouped together.

so i installed it today..
took me a while to be able to install wireless drivers for my laptop but eventually one of the older version drivers worked using the os compatibility feature that comes with 7, pretty cool, it was able to install an xp driver after i used that option..

other than that the os looks pretty good, reminds me a lot of vista, kinda fast for now but i formatted it before installing...sound and everything works fine. i'll try it for sometime see if it's stable and if not i'll go back to xp.

Can you please tell me how you did this? My video card is older which doesn't have Vista drivers for it and I need to install an XP driver so I can get dual monitors to work. I searched google and all I was able to find was info about the compatibility feature but no directions.....Thanks

when you execute the file and it denies because it does not support the OS another window comes up saying "install using another way" or something like that, then it will ask you to select which OS the driver supports and it will automatically run the installation file again but this time it will open it without any error messages. It only worked for me for some files, a newer version of the wireless adapter driver did not work this way saying there is some .ini file missing..

edit: you can also do it by right clicking on the file and selecting 3rd option down "troubleshoot compatibility"

I've installed the 7 beta on my Asus EEEPC 701SD.
-specs: Intel 900Mhz CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB SSD, 16GB SD card.

Windows 7 boots faster than XP did on this netbook and definitely runs smoother and more stable.

In order to fit Win7 on the tiny 8GB SSD, I had to shrink the install with vLite. It's amazing how much this OS inflates itself.

I think I'm gonna install XP back on this netbook though, cuz I have a 400MB shrunked XP install which is far better a footprint than the 4+ GB of Win7.
