I was talking about the whole flu shot scare...

i know... and i was making a point by using that quote.

We all have reasons to be suspicious for different reasons.

Dont blindly believe everything you see/read/watch on tv whether its for or against the vaccine.

Ive balanced both and made my decision. No shot for me.

gotcha!
My parents are bugging me to get the regular shot, since they already got theirs back in Ukraine (vaccine is freely available at local pharmacies and my grandma is a doctor, so she gave the whole family shots)

srsly these doctors should be going live on TV and news, not forwarding mass emails
I don't know.. something is fishy here

So supposed emails from a doctor are fishy, but incomplete stories from journalists with no sources are right as rain?

HAHA. Love the logic.

The funny thing about people standing out in the cold is that they are making them more susceptible to the flu, but lowering their body temp, then going into a high risk area, giving the flu a better chance of working.

I was considering the shot... but now :conf:

I think I rather risk getting the flu... The flu will just put me in bed for a few weeks. I am not going to die or have something horrible happen to me... Cant say the same for the shot.

Time to go buy some vitamin D

There is research out there that indicates young women are actually being very hard hit by the virus. Moreso than the elderly or your typical weak-immune populations.

I'm not advocating the shot here, I don't know myself what I'm doing, but believing because you are young and generally healthy and will therefore be safe is a bit naiive based on patterns that have emerged thus far.

im gonna be working at about 3 of these h1n1 clinics each week all throughout november (doing client registration and history review/consent) and they already had the first one really recently for the poultry workers (waited a few hours in line, first time running through this more "complex" clinic management design, had to get all the kinks n bugs out of system)

you should see all the buzz going on at the public health dept's (well here in waterloo at least) - they are asking everyone that works in public health to get a vaccine and even gave us our own clinic dates/times...i was going to get one at first but now i'm really starting to second guess it. i feel almost that they are pressuring/persuaying us into doing so.

one of my managers told me the shot hurts the arm a lot more than the regular flu shot and that pain is "the vaccine working" lol

we're gonna be dealing wiht 1000s of citizens at each clinic, i hope i dont get struck with something while working at one

i think im just going to end up waiting and let the first couple rounds of people be the guniea pigs :wtf:

That's what I'm saying.

If it ends up being like a typical flu but for some people more virulent ok I see no huge deal.

If however it's some crazy super bug with mass killing pandemic potential and the shot will help then give me it.

I just spoke to my doctor about this and he said some very interesting things. I kept my mouth shut the whole time except to ask questions. Here is what he told me in a nutshell:

1) the vaccine is not very well tested and that when they say "there are no apparent long term side effects" that these claims are valid because there havnt been long term studies.

2) all the supposed "healthy" kids were taking tamiflu at the time they died

3) a lot of the supposed "healthy" kids actually had something that had already severely suppressed their immune system that had been undetected

4) the government was legitimately concerned that swine flu would mutate in the fall and become a super bug. So because of their embarrassment with SARS went full steam ahead. But now that this mutation hasnt happened, to go back and say they were wrong would make them look incompetent.

5) there is no medical evidence to suggest flu vaccines are even that successful in preventing the flu and it produces the wrong type of auto immune response for a virus.

6) adjuvent scares the out of him

All in all my DOCTOR recommended AGAINST taking the swine flu shot although he is legally obligated to make sure i receive one if i ask for it.

^ thanks Jay
did you ask him in regards to the regular shot? I'm just wondering if it's even needed this year..
LiveTime
All the shot is every year is for the most common flu that is going around at the time. In this case it is h1n1. So really this is no different than in previous years.
