Nor is there a condition such as trauma/stress/shell-shock where a persons recollection is practically useless.
:stongue:
I think you've been playing too much Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2.
I don't agree with this viewpoint. I sympathise, but I don't agree.
If you bury your head in the sand, then humanity struggles to move forward.
The more knowledge we have, the better it is for everyone in the long run. While it's not ideal that it was started around the time of 11/9, what exactly did you expect? I find it hard to believe that anyone can be naive enough to expect flowers and rainbows, especially when such absurd and astonishingly idiotic people like the "truthers" in this thread still exist.
A lot of us have been through pain and suffering, it's not exclusive to just New York city and the Pentagon. Some of us have been through wars which are far worse. It's not the total number of deaths that counts. Burying your head in the sand, no matter how hard it may be to resist, helps nobody.
Also what's worse is, you now give these idiots a convenient escape route away from the conversation because they can just claim we're upsetting people and we should end it at that.
Exhibit A: |
My comments were made in relation to this thread in particular. I never said stop having the conversation but we have beat a dead horse in this thread and it would seem to me that you've jumped in a little too late. |

Exhibit A: |
1. Your whole post reeks of a lack of reading comprehension. I said in my own post that I am a FIRM believer in questioning things (so, how I am I suggesting that people stick their heads in the sand??) I have been reading most of this thread, taking in each person's considerations, and I didnt ask them to chill until yesterday. If I had wanted people to ignore the topic entirely, not exchange information, and "stick their heads in the sand", dont you think I would have asked them to stop weeks ago? However, I stated, that this thread has gone on with the same repetitive banter and enough is enough. I 100% agree that having knowledge and varying opinions are critical, but when did I ever say that it wasnt? Didnt I write something like: "I choose to remember and I choose to question, but I also choose to respect and have a knowledge of when its time to call it quits on an endless and repetitive conversation that is getting no where?"
2. I also didnt state anything about my "beliefs", so I am not sure how you can assume that I think things are flowers and roses! I live here, do you not think that this is already obvious to me? I am fully aware that there a million and one things going wrong in this country, and I support talking about it, but please dont assume you know my entire political background and opinions because I write an emotional response in a political thread.
3. I also stated that people all over the world clearly feel a similar sadness, so I am did not omit anyone. I made it VERY clear that just because I am a New Yorker, i understood that this was a tragic day to everyone around the world, but to know someone who died, and to see your city collapse wasnt all candy and roses for the people witnessing it firsthand. I also wasnt referring or comparing this event to anything else, so I am not sure why you would bring up how "other people have it bad, too." Um yes, I am aware. I am educated and read, and understand the struggles of nations and people in so many different areas of the world. But, Since we arent talking about that, I didnt mention it, so please dont assume that I am not aware of other things going on just because I ask that people have some respect in knowing when to stop.
I think I answered your entire post in the original message I posted, but hopefully after repeating myself, you get what I am trying to say now.

Your choosing to question disrespects the people that died on that day. You are a ing hypocrite. |

Nah, see you read too far into things. I am referring to any political discussion. People have a right to question and debate things. The problem is with most people is that they often formulate an opinion BEFORE the debate begins and often its hard to change their minds even as good rebuttles are presented.
And besides, how do you even know WHAT I am questioning? Hahahaha! Way to jump the gun and assume, there buddy! ;) ;) I am offended that you would ever tell me that I am disrespecting any human being that died that day, you obviously didnt read my post or know anything about what I think about that day (and the events leading up to it). |

"Kto ne s nami, tot protiv nas", loose russian translation of the above.
Millions of people were killed in soviet Russia in 1920's using exactly same words.
Way to go, people, this puts modern western society on the same level as communists of 1920s. |

The Stalinsist had the balls to get what they want. My favorite quote from Stalin: "One death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic." |

Looks like Russia has a precedent for killing millions of its own citizens. I won't let anyone's lies about America supposedly doing the same go unanswered. |
