I know, it's just that when I've seen him at avalon (twice) it hasn't worked as well as him in smaller more intimate venues.
I like really avalon, but it caters way more to that big room sound and the DJ always seems more separated - with someone like Cox, who more so than probably anyone feeds off crowd energy and interaction, it just doesn't work as well. I'm still probably going to go, as I thinks he's the greatest DJ to ever grace the decks, but I hope they do something with the setup that works better for him.
btw, are they still doing the rope thing in avalon? |

I've seen him 3 times at Avalon. I don't remember the first one but the last two I have really enjoyed it. And even though he was not as intimate with the crowd as you say, he seemed to be enjoying it as well.
By rope you mean the split club? They are using fences now. |

So James Events closes at 5pm and I imagine the city offices are closed. So where's the statement from both of them that GV promised the world yesterday? They said it would be within 24 hours.
We aren't getting a statement today. Another broken promise. This is nuts. |

i don't see why they even mentioned the city... my best guess is that this is County-governed land anyway, not a specific city. And being on private property i doubt one needs to get the County's permission anyway to do this event. |

I think he enjoyed it too - he loves what he does - it's just that I've seen him probably 20 times over the last 12 years and every time it's more intimate or he's closer to the crowd, it's been so much better. The two best gigs I've ever seen him pay was the Terrace at Space Ibiza and Vanguard last year.

i think you are both referring to how they handle the main room when it gets full? yes they still have security holding people back when it gets full inside. rope/fence... same net effect
being a weeknight event i don't think that will be as big of a problem as a normal big Sat night... |
