Thanks for the report.
"Based on a survey of more than 5,000 EDC 2010 attendees, we estimated the total expenditures per person to be $121.48 per day for local attendees, and $153.31 per day for non-local attendees. Using these estimates of the expenditures by attendees, along with expenditures by Insomniac, we calculated the indirect and induced impacts, we determined the overall economic impact to be $41,955,237. Local attendees were responsible for $11.2 million of the economic impact, non-local attendees were responsible for $22.7 million, and Insomniac was responsible for $8 million.
We also estimate that the event will create more than 350 jobs for local residents as a result of this event. In addition, the various government agencies in Los Angeles County will benefit from this event in the form of increased tax revenues. In total, we estimate that the event generated over $1.2 million in additional tax revenues to local governments.
Given the volume of attendees to Electric Daisy Carnival, and the fact that people came from all over Southern California, the United States and abroad, we can conclude that EDC 2010 had a significant economic impact on the Los Angeles County economy. In fact, If calculated using a similar methodology our analysis shows that EDC 2010 had a larger economic impact than other major events in Los Angeles County including X Games 16, the 2011 NBA All Star Game,
and the 2010 E3 Expo." |
