Brazil had the previous record: 138 points in a game.

Britain hunted down three more gold medals yesterday, with a gun, in a canoe and on the bike of Sir Chris Hoy, 36, who blasted round the £93 million velodrome to collect the fifth Olympic gold of his career. Hoy’s tenacity was the perfect expression of the home team’s rising fortunes on land and water.

Five golds fell to Britain in 24 hours. The cascade started with Bradley Wiggins (cycling) and the rowing pair of Helen Glover and Heather Stanning on Wednesday and picked up force yesterday in track cycling, canoeing and shooting. Within five minutes, the self-proclaimed “Dorset farm boy”, Peter Wilson, won the double trap shooting and Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie captured gold on the canoe slalom course.

Long ago life was clean
Sex was bad and obscene
And the rich were so mean
Stately homes for the Lords
Croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria

I was born, lucky me
In a land that I love
Though I am poor, I am free
When I grow I shall fight
For this land I shall die
Let her sun never set
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, toria

Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria

Canada to India
Australia to Cornwall
Singapore to Hong Kong
From the West to the East
From the rich to the poor
Victoria loved them all
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria

Yeah they do. Great Britain gave them control back in '97 I think :p

And that's exactly why I imagined they'd join China after that :p

Something else really bothers me though. There are loads of European and African athletes whose parents obviously came from different corners of the world, so you end up having like Li Jie playing for the Netherlands and Kirsty Coventry swimming for Zimbabwe... yet there isn't a single athlete from China/Korea/Japan that looks remotely "foreign" - it's like there's no migration to these countries!

(Or all their migrants really suck at sports)
