Try to find one mention of his sending the Irish as slaves to the Caribbean. To hell, Connaught or Barbados, right?

Listen you , these days people pay to go to these places. So quit your whining.

Went up to Embankment for the women's marathon this morning. Again, in the pouring rain, yet an absolutely electric atmosphere. The free events are equally awesome!! Will try and post some pics once these manically fun two weeks are over!

What's really struck me about these Olympics, is the sheer good nature of people; real human spirit. Cheering on each other's teams, rooting for the last runner in a marathon or rowing, and such good nature between all the spectators and volunteers. Genuinely heart-warming to hear and witness.

YES!

I watched the entire marathon, including that last runner from Ireland.. man, that was something to see the crowd still hanging around to cheer her home. Brought tears to my eyes.

I am so envious that you are able to get in there and see the action!!! The men's marathon is gonna be off the chain.

Give that girl another medal! Event? Either "Right place right time" or "justice", either works

Spectator arrested after bottle thrown at 100m final

The spectator was taken from the Olympic stadium to a police station after the incident, which threatened to disrupt the highly anticipated race.

Dutch judo competitor Edith Bosch tweeted that she had punched the "drunken" culprit.

The sound of the bottle landing just behind athletes including eventual winner Usain Bolt could be heard on video footage just after the starter told the runners to “set”.

A security guard could also be seen making his way to the offender, who was not in shot.

One spectator wrote on Twitter: ”Man in front of me threw bottle onto track just at start! Had to be wrestled off ...”

Another said: “So a drunk p---- actually threw a bottle onto the track as 100m started! He got punched by Dutch judo bronze medallist Edith Bosch tho.”

Indeed, that didn't see he was sitting next to her, and probably if she had more time she would have done something much worse after she realised she missed the actual running. She was very pissed about that:

I love it that the guy who runs the olympics described the fact that she was there as "poetic justice" "instant karma" and "i belive that is what you call ippon" :p

Also, imagine how many birds stu could catch with the equipment that made this shot. But the picture of Usain Bolt as he crosses the finish line is good as well.

Yeah, I just heard Sebastian Coe say it.

Bolt's reaction was:"I just heard about it, I didn’t actually see it, I don’t promote violence so I’m sorry to hear that.” But he was laughing while he said that last part...

That's cool, but there also is a big time difference. Notice at the place where Edith Bosch is sitting behind the start area, they all still are sitting looking at their phones or something. That certainly wasn't what they were doing at the time Bolt crosses the finish. People at the left are standing, but looking at the start, while the runners are at the other side.

Nice picture if you don't zoom in :)

Also funny, non of the men respond directly after the guy throws the bottle, while Edith immediately starts cursing :)

Awesome gold again for GB with cycling and unfortunately for us also with horse jumping, but it wasn't expected so silver is nice too.

Well since its a gigapixel image i imagine thats actually well over a hundred images taken with a slight delay stitched together, but its still damn nice to see :)

I love it how the guy with glasses looks at the guy throwing the bottle and most certainly thinks to himself "wait, do i need new glasses or did that guy just really throw the bottle on the track" while you can almost hear her going "Oh no you didnt!" or whatever the dutch equivalent of that phrase is :D

Yes, must have been, but still amazing.

LOL, yeah he can't believe his eyes.

I read she said: "Dude, what are you doing!", probably she said it in English.
In Dutch she would most likely say: "Gast, doe effe normaal!" which is "Dude, act normally" or something like that, that sounds much cooler in Dutch than English though. "Oh no you didn't!" would be the right equivalent for it.

Big Worm
you see the way he looked cheekily over the people in front of him to see if there was any reaction.... weird. guy deserved to get throttled.
