I personally have had my share of good and bad times @ Guv, and quite frankly understand why Jeff has reached his breaking point... mine was in Oct @ Infected Mushroom when I got the stuffing beat out of me in guest-list lineup.

@ INfected Mushroom @ (SUPRISE) Guv, I was searched going in. I had an over the counter ephedrine in my pocket since I didn't want to drink or do drugs. Upon finding it in my pocket (after the complimentary testicle fondle of course) they put me against the wall to wait for more male bouncers and a more complete search. When they came to my ignition key in my zipper pocket, the girl yelled "weapon" and the Guvernment Gorillias proceeded to pile on and stomp me.

Then there was the attempt @ a forced strip search to find the "weapon" when things calmed down and they realised they (and I) had nothing. Oh, and the threat to plant drugs on me after I mention wanting to talk to the cops.

Guvernment
Sucks

Now I was mostly doing friends houses and field parties up to x-mas 98, then started going to Guv, Industry, Exit, Zone, pretty much every party up until 2001 and marriage hit. The turning point for the scene had to definately be the Millenium... everyone was partying like the world was going to end, and the kind of clientele that you'd usually find @ Plastique, Whisky Saigon, Joker, and the Phoenix started flooding the EDM scene, including the BLC massives circa 1999-2000.

Guvernment these days is an intersting cross-section of the Toronto BAR scene, not the club/edm scene, with each room/club in the complex striving to bring in a part of each "scene" in Toronto on the same night. This brain-storm/mentality reminds me of the three-floor clubs on Richmond like Joker and Whiskey (now Joe) and what I hated about the Toronto bars when I was an alternative/punk edm kid when I first moved to Toronto in 96. One part "dance", one part hip-hop/R&B, a bit of vip/elite lounge space, etc. The blender mentality rarely works in creating any kind of specific vibe, and other than Picotto/Vath in KH I simply refuse to go there.

I understand the urge to go, especially when a big DJ is there, but as the saying goes...

Fool me once, shame on you..Fool me twice, shame on me..Fool me three times, and what am I??

Man did I have fun on Saturday night.

Wow, this thing is still going? 14 pages of post for an 'I hate you Charles' thread? That compounded with the fact that we know there will be no changes to the club?
God Bless Boa

This has to be the most stupid comment ever, well maybe a close second to all the garbage that Jayx1 spews out.
We are not friendly just because we are new, but rather because it is good business practice to do so!!
We are in the entertainment business, where people go to be entertained not abused. if we feel somebody is a potential problem, we weed them out at the door and avoid the unpleasant experience of their attendance simply to get the extra cover!!
Our security are friendly because they are a reflection of our customers, who are a reflection of our door policy, which ultimately is a reflection of our concept - A DANCE VENUE DEDICATED TO EDM AND ITS FANS.
Whether we are here in seven years or not is not our concern, being the best at what we do during the time we are here is!!! Ultimately this attitude has its financial rewards!
If you feel that the Guv offers a good product, then good for you. You are entitled to your opinion, but do not justify their ridiculous and dangerous behaviour by speculating about us when you have not even been to Boa once!!!
Instead of stating your opinion you are asserting your ignorance!!! ...Hey you are a perfect Guv customer.....

the friskers at the door being female take teh uppperhand and make an ass out of u by sticking their hands everywhere they possibly can. very very discourtieus.

when infected mushroom came in august (not oct as rob stated), i wasnt allowed to take my chain with my keys on it as it was considered a security risk, meanwhile i counted 9 chicks and 4 guys on the inside with the chains.....and not like those chains have any purpose...

EDIT: the man that posted above me jsut now knows what hes talkin bout. AMEN

i don't mind going to guv once it a while, but it is a little too crowded for my taste, and the clientele is a little too skanky 905'ers. danny t at boa was the perfect party as far as i am concerned- good vibe, space to dance, nice staff. it was first time there and i was very pleasantly surprised, i feel that it is a better place for someoen who's a little bit older b/c i've been partying for so long the novelty has word off- it's not enough to just 'be there'- i do feel that you do make yoru own good time- i actually had ana amzing time at the first LOL- i was disapointed w/ the situation, but i cut my losses, as i wanted to have a good time, and i did.

And I'm sure Charles has the Toronto Fire Dept payed off since he'll ram the Guv way passed capacity...He doesn't give one rats ass about anybody...It will hace to come down to someone actually dying:eyespop: from being trampled from a fire or some other emergency before anything is done about that place
