Jay, comfort level aside, do you honestly believe the venue is safe in case of emergency, or that the staff are properly equipped/briefed on how to evacuate the premises and control the crowd?
Ontop of all that, do you think the place is under capacity on these big events, like LoL, or Sasha, etc, that people complain about? Do you think they are even tracking their capacity??
They certainly aren't tracking capacity there, and the reason is simple. They've payed off the cops/bylaw officers, hence no need to track something that certainly isn't a problem for them.
And let's face it guys, the reason they ram it early, isn't to accomodate those that want to see the headliner, it's to get as many people in there drinking as possible, since booze is their real $$$$ maker, and is for the staff too. (tips pay the bills, not wages for bartenders et all) |

Pretty much... Its also a main reason why they can charge a little bit less as cover to the place. Cause they know they are going to make it back at the bar.

Yeah, some dude flipped out on drugs, pulled a fire alarm, broke away from his 'confinement area', ran up into the club's office, climbed into the ceiling, started running thru there, putting holes in the ceiling as he went along, climbed 30' into the ceiling and wouldn't come out. Had to send people in looking for him, made it very dangerous for patrons below, in case he were to fall thru the ceiling and land on someone. Swat team got called in, and CP 24 even came by to see the hoopla.
This occured at 5:30am, so everyone in the Kool Haus was forced to leave, cutting Mauro's set off at that time. We weren't allowed over to the Guv side, and a plan had to be devised to handle coat check claims in the parking lot instead. |

us "guv brown nosers" didn't say they don't ram the place to the ...we just said that it happens everywhere you go, and you guys are lucky to have a club like this that you get to see the #1 DJ's in the world! i was there for tiesto..up front being squished but i didn't let it ruin my night. I also seen tiesto in Chicago...and you want to see a place being rammed to the ! Every club i go to to see any big DJ's is rammed packed...its not just guv. everyone does it! |

It DOESNT happen everywhere you go. Everywhere you go (of course other than the Guv) has capacity restrictions. The Guvernment does not. Why do you ask?? Because they have enough money to pay off the authorities so they dont have to worry about it. Boa and System, NEVER let it happen in their clubs, because they respect the patrons who visit their clubs weekly. You keep saying "be greatful" for the talent they bring in. Well, im not. Id rather see Sean Miller @ Boa, or Luke Fair @ System, and rock out to their sounds with space to dance than stand there being shoved around listening to Sasha. |

i think where guv gets into trouble is w/ all access events. i think that they may stick to capacity but then everyone wants to be in particular room, b/c it's a;; access then they are bbeyobe capacity in say, the guv and then far below in KH. i think that wen they have tehir finger on teh pulse of how many ppl want to be where it works out ok, but when they bring in too many good dj's and put them in guv, that's when problems arise.
if they limit ppl form moving from room to room, then ppl get pissed, they will write bad reviews, they will push and shove trying to get through to say, the orange room. it's bad news bears all around.
i wish a venue coudl be designed that had two massive rooms and a hugem wide hall running between them that could better accomodate movement from one to another, and then maybe smaller lounges not in between the 2 big rooms but off of teh end of the big rooms. |

How do you know it doesn't happen everywhere i go....have you been anywhere but TO. to go see the # DJ's in the world...probably not cause you have them right at your fingertips..i on the other hand have to travel to places to see them and get crammed into many differnt clubs!!! in the states some of the bars don't stay open pass 2:30 so people that see them there are getting pushed and shoved and stepped on for half the time you guys do...and STILL don't complain! Im not saying that you haven't been other places to see djs but i HAVE to go to other places to see the DJ's that i want to see! Really theres no point of arguing your point of view and mine....so lets just leave it at we don't agree! K :) |
