Talk to Chinaman, I believe any drugstore should have it, but if he's not doing drugs he'll take an effidrine in the night to keep him up.

For the record, melatonin is the brain chemical which regulates sleep. However, it could be illegal in Canada because overuse of melatonin pills causes the body to become dependant on the excess of melatonin in the body to fall asleep.
Besides, melatonin pills are evil, I had a bad experience in first year after staying up for 3 nights straight studying, I was running on caffine and adrenaline, completly insomniated, a girl gave me a double dosage of the stuff and I crashed for the next 2 full days. Barely made it to the bathroom when I woke up and was hungry as hell. Missed a lab, a quiz, and many many classes.

We all know that marijuana has many beneficial effects with respect to medicinal purposes. Not for everyone obviously, but hey, i guess its one example, though prolly not a great one :) Obviously, it has its negative effects too.

so your experierence couldn't have been caused by the fact you stayed up two days straight off caffeine?

when used properly, melatonin is useful. I don't know if any of you have actually experienced long periods of insomnia (and i haven't but this guy at work hasn't slept in years) but it is not something that you take for granted. I bet the dude at work would like to sleep for 2 days straight.

There should be an option named "I used to do E, but now I do it almost never". I would feel out of place saying flat out YES, because I maybe take E ~4 times a year

djbuuren,

I respect your opinions on this topic as well as the opposing arguments put up by other members. However, if there is something that we should realize, the unfortunate reality of the EDM scene is that there exists a significant correlation between drug use/abuse.

This is not to say EVERYONE is on something but the probability of this type of activity taking place is higher when compared to other events.

And you're right, there's an inherent risk when taking any sort of controlled substance. But it's the individual that makes the decision whether they want to dose or not.

I applaud your efforts to stay clean at these events but you should not blame others for "ruining the scene" for you. Whether MDMA or any other drug is a necessity or "fashion trend" (<--- Some ppl go to clubs because they WANT to be messed up), let them be.

It goes back to my point where it is just a reality of the scene, much like how the gay population have been instrumental in keeping the underground music scene alive.

thalidomide.illegal in canada because of old stigmas. useful in the treatment of AIDS and leprosy and other autoimmune diseases. AIDS patients have to smuggle it in from mexico and they are told by their doctors to do so.

melatonin, a herbal sleep agent. not legal in canada because they don't want to do the clinical tests. sometimes the only thing that can cure a poor insomniac. tested everywhere else.

Hhhhmm...okay well without going to extremes and I didn't mean like prescription type stuff for people with terminal ilnesses...i meant like general every day life :)

And you people sthould stop naming medication type stuff cause i'm sure none of you tkae E for medical reasons :happy2:

...I guess another point that I wanted to make is that I doubt that the government is purposely sitting there looking like this ---> :disbelief -- thinking of cruel ways to prevent you from having a good time. The purpose of government is to protect it's citizens and to create lawas that do so. Althought our particular government has been known for it's stupidity so that might not stand very well :p

For sure! I've never actually tried melatonin because you can't get it here, but regular sleeping pills have never worked on me and there was a period last year where I could not get to sleep for 6 days. I was a total basket case, I didn't even realize melatonin was illegal at that time because I'd heard about it so often - well when I found out you can't get it here I was freaking out, I think that probably made the insomnia worse!

Lucky for me it got better, it wasn't a chronic thing, but man I would have killed for one of those.

And what caused your wild 6 day insomnia???

I personally find weed to be a great sleep aid. I'd much rather smoke pot than take a sleeping pill.
