...to be honest with you it kinda freaks me out that instead of living natural happy lives we refer to pills and chemicals of all kind to help us sleep, lose weight, feel happier, improve our performance and etc and etc...:nervous:

No, I blame melatonin. Evil stuff. Sure it can be used prperly I'm sure it can be useful. But it is EVIL! Because it caused me to sleep 2 days straight I had to stay up for a few more all-nighters to catch up on working time I missed. I was on the verge of discovering that sleep is unecessary under the right chemical equlibrium, and if I had been successful, I would have been the most productive engineer at my school.

It probably was the mix of caffine melatonin and insomnia, but to this day I still blame the girl [humorously] and the pills.

No clue. Maybe stress. After the first day of insomnia I went cold turkey on coffee, tea, and any caffeine products. I hardly eat any sugar or chocolate, and I work out at the gym usually about 4-5 hours before I intend to sleep (not every day).

Weed is a great sleep aid. Sadly I did not have access to it at the time. OTC sleeping pills did jack.

Haha, I wish! I could go for one of those right now...

EDIT: actually, 6 shots of liquor at once was probably what helped me end the streak. ;)

you forgot a comma and it made it sound like something with me freaks you out. :)

well, being a pharmaceutical sciences student, i'm going to stay away from that arguement.

but let's just say, next time you are suffering from a terrible case of bladder infection, you will sing a different tune.

No I don't mean when we are sick and need medication - that's understandable - you NEED it because you are sick.

What I'm talking about is taking drugs and chemicals of all kind when YOU DON'T actually need them, when you DON'T have a serious ilness or desease and etc and etc...

So how would you classify decongestants when you've got a bad cold?

You don't need them. They just alleviate the symptoms.

haha I thought you'd like that...

I will I will.

I think a lot of the times when people get sick it is due to the fact that they don't take proper care of themselves and often live a very stressfull life. This includes also bad nutrition, not enough sleep, too much work and etc...Instead of listening to our bodies and taking care of ourselves many people often think they are invisible.
I'm not saying don't use decongestants when you have a bad cold because you often have to - the question is how you got there.

All this talk about caffeine pills and sleeping pills and other pills...not to mention that a HUGE percentage of the Canadian population is clinically depressed and needs drugs for that too...

Don't you think there is something fundamentally wrong here? That we need all kinds of substances to make us feel better? And forget about ilnesses and sickness for a moment and don't think of medications...

*EDIT*
Speaking of bad colds...I have a really ed up left sinus thanks to many "medicines" and mistakes that were made by the wonderful docs who perscribed them. ;)

I find it funny that so many people are into "natural stuff" saying no to "genetically modified foods" but gladly take chemicals and other "assistants" with little problems...
