My fav argument with the whole Bible thing is:
Take a book written in an ancient language.
Translate it 5 or so more times, using another few ancient languages.
Tell me this doesnt leave any creative licence to whoever was doing the translations at each step...
Best example I can give:
Take a paragraph in english.
Translate it to german.
Then to spanish.
Then to french.
Then to italian.
Then back to english.
How much like the original paragraph does the final one look?
Not friggin much :D

For the most part it was Arameic to Hebrew to Anchient Greek, to Latin then to the various languages you presently find it in. What is great, however, is to see the differences between English Roman Catholic bibles and the King James bible.... There are so many differences between them that parts don't even seem like the same book and the only reason for it is that one was translated from latin hundreds of years ago whilst the other was translated only 40 years ago. |

i think some of you don't understand what an athiest is. in case you werent aware athiests are ppl that don't think god is real,but heres a question for all the athiests out there who thinks its cool to hate god:

so you can see why athiests are wrong. ask this question and i BET they can't give you a straight answer because they know deep down they are WRONG. here are some more facts about so called athiests:
- atheists wroship a man call charles darwin who was the inventor of evolution (i think EVILution would have been a more truthfull name tho lol :D ). what athiests DONT know is that charles darwin admited he was a christian when he was dieing and said everything he had invented was actually a lie :eyes: i wonder if athiests would still worship him if they knew this??? LOL
- evolution is a theory that says animlas have mutated from other animals but if this is true than havent we EVER seen an animal mutate into a diferent animal??? haver you a seen a fish mutate into a donkey or a wtaermelon mutate into a dinosaur??? can you beleive this is what athiests actually think happens!!!??? :stongue:
- athiests think ppl came from monkeys but have you ever seen a monkey give birht to a person? lol no i don't think so. also athiests beleive that everything mutated from dinasaurs but this can't be true because arkolagists (sp?) have found footprints of ppl and dinasaurs walking next to each other :eyes: do you wanna know whats cool tho? this is just what it says iN THE BIBLE!!! :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

a) pistake is UK slang not US slang but really who cares.... essentially he was asking if you were kidding.
b) whether or not something is or is not real is inmaterial to wheter or not people believe in it. UFOs may or may not be real but many believe in them. The easter bunny is not real but many children believe in it. God may or may not be real, that people believe something is not evidence that it exists as anything more then a believe.
C) No one has ever proven that the tooth fairy DOESN'T exist either. It is impossible to prove a negative. Failing to prove that something does not exist does not act as proof that it does exist. Also, you should note that Darwin was a firm believer in chritianity and thought that evolution was further evidence of God... Evolution and Creation are not diabolically opposed. |

Why is that stupid? I don't think I would have worded it that way as many may take offense, but what's stupid about his reasoning. I think it's pretty retarded to think everything came from a single celled organism, through mutation. It's amazing that we can't find a definitive intermediary species, being as we've supposedly been evolving for millions of years. Funny how the Anthropology books explain it by saying that there are good fossilization times and bad times. That's awfully convenient. Also interesting how the Anthropology books show a diagram of a skeletal structure with hundreds of bones, based on their analysis of a mere two that they've found. That's a whole lot of speculation. Too much for me to buy it anyway. |

Sorry brother but both your post and the one that you are attempting to support show a serious lack of knowledge regarding physical anthropology.
There certainly is a clear chain from Astrolopithicus to Homo Sapien... granted, we don't have skeletal records for every part of this chain but the chain is there. Try to remember that the search for fosil records of these two classes of primate have only really been going on since the early 60s. The fact that we have found as much of the chain as we have is somewhat astounding.
Where your argument that evolution is not correct because we have not found a direct link is flawed is because you are suggesting that there is only one link. We already know of at least 4 Homo species prior to Homo Sapien Archaic and 3 Astrololpithicus species after Afarencis.... it is only a matter of time before we find the last Astrolopithicus and the first Homo.
BTW, as I said earlier creation and evolution are not mutually exclusive. If you take an interpretive view of the bible the story of creation is a very good allagory for evolution.... which makes sense to me because God is certainly bright enough to know that no bronze age people would understand the big bang and evolution so he had to tell the story in a manner they could relate to. |
