Alright, since you decided to address it, you get one post from me acknowledging your ignorance and intolerance...
This thread is just a bunch of self righteous jockeying by people with deep rooted beliefs and values that are so ingrained in them they are not willing to have an open mind about how others were brought up... The fact of the matter is, that it just isn't logical that any one of you is right...
If a single group of people has it "right," that means approximately 90% of the rest of us are ed, give or take... And what if the religion that got it right is some small, obscure, aboriginal tribe in the South Pacific? That means that less than 1/10 of 1% of the entire population of the planet will enjoy "heaven" and the rest of us will rot for eternity in hell...
God is supposed to be Omnipotent, Omniscient, AND Omnibenevolent, so I ask you, how could a God who is ALL GOOD doom a majority of his creation to an eternity of suffering?
Listen, as I've posted before, I think religion is a good thing, it provides a moral compass for people to guide their lives by, and in general allows people to lead their lives in a way that propagates the human species. However, when A religion is used as an exclusionary, elitist tool to place oneself on a pedastal above others, the purpose of religion has been defeated.
Do you really think that evangelizing is the key to heaven? Telling others how wrong they are, and that their only path to salvation is by following the same path as you? If this is the case my friend, i'm quite certain your are sorely mistaken...
Some of the most religious people I know are also some of the most deviant, evil, self obsessed people I know... And many of the most brilliant, kind, caring, helpful people I know would call themselves agnostic, and yet their faith is 100 times more genuine than most of the youth group, campus crusading, evangelical christians whose parents have just drilled scripture into their heads.
So rather than spouting off random thoughts from your religious agenda, why don't you open your eyes and ears and listen to what others have to say. Even if you don't agree, maybe you'll learn something.

Let me ask you this oh tolerant one. Don't you think that by being tolerant, and thus accepting all faiths as equal and so forth, you're also objectively imposing your values on others, by denying the belief that their religions are the only true ones? So in essence, you're doing the exact same thing we're doing (promulgating an objective set of values) although you're too stupid to realize it :stongue: You back to pre-school, loser. |
