Revelation refers to the eternal pit of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, but there certainly isn't a reference to burning in hell. That's where, I assume, people get it from. Either way, that's the wrong concept to focus on. The bible focuses on God's love and forgiveness, not his punishment, especially in the New Testament (which is the new covenant). |
One thing I love about The Revelation of John that no one ever picks up on (especially the born agains) is the verse that states "the beast shall be cast into the deepest pit, the gate locked and chained, and all the souls set free." This is talking about the end of the war between heaven and hell.... essentially what it says is that everyone gets out of hell eventually. I like to throw that at the born agains when they are doing their street missions, it confuses the hell out of them (pardon the pun). |

well since this thread is far removed from what Jamie's intentions were id like to add...
IMO people start wars then go
"i want more power"
"oh , what can we blame this on and get away with it."
"I know the Bible, every one else does"
"good idea"
"It's not that we thought your race should be erased, 'God' told us to do it!"
:whip:
That stuff has to do with religion imo... |

You were kind of right... repenting is more then saying I'm sorry, which is what you suggested was all that was needed to have your sins forgiven. Like I said, you must atone for your sins, I'm sorry does not equal atonement.... |

This is simple. The religious people have the same rights as the non-religious of voicing their beliefs. They both do no harm with that. Some people actually manage to walk away when this voicing begins. It’s not that hard.
Believing that you believe in a higher power is the same as believing that you don’t believe in it, whatever that “higher power” happens to be or not be. What is absurd, don’t quote me on any of this, is the fact that both sides defend something that they’re not completely informed about. And that will never change.

Not if the two religions you speak of are just different interpretations of the same god.
Then we all go to heaven, even you, if we have to drag you there kicking and screaming :) |

I don't think "hell" exists yet. If you read Revelation it indicates that Satan and his minions will be cast into the pit, at the end of the war. I probably need to look into the scripture to quote it, but I'm not sure that the context supports your theory. I might be wrong though. |

ok she just found out that my uncle's wife is an athiest and she's freaking out because my little cousin (he's like 3) isn't going to have "God" in his life and she just went on and on about how it's "WRONG" and "he needs to be brought up with some sort of belief system BLA BLA BLA BLA" which, i'm not saying i disagree with, but it's NOT HER KID, it's her nephew, and it's my UNCLE'S job to try to work something out with HIS WIFE and HIS SON...
i mean am i right or am i right?
god, she ing thinks everyone in the world has to see things her way or they're wrong. |
Well I beleive its everyone individual choice on what religion to be a part of if they want to be in one. My son isnt baptised into anything because once he becomes old enough to understand I would like him to choose his own religion without influence from me or his father. I dont think my son absolutely has to share the same religion as me. Even if I do influence him as a child he can still grow up and change his mind. All I can do is educate him on what religions are out there and available to him and try to guide him to live a good life using the morals I beleive in and religion doesnt necesarily have to be involved.
After going through 2 religions I was never really satisfied with any information and all the speculation and lack of facts just turned me off. I dont really practice anything. I beleive there is a higher power (ie:god) out there but I think learning about this higher power should be within yourself. |

Only the Abrahamic religions believe that souls can go to hell and all three of them recognize that faith in any of the Abrahamic religions is valid.
If you're Hindu or a member of any of it's off shoots there is no hell, only reincarnation. At the end of your Karmic journey you join god (Brahman) and become part of him. |

religion is NOT the cause of every war...
it's about nations/countries, etc... trying to covet what they think was rightfully theirs...about power, about politics, land...etc.....
"what can this country do for me" that sort of mentality...not religoin. |
