Monika Kruse I think will never play in North America.
They actually contacted me and asked if I wanted her to play as they where setting up a north american tour. As soon as I told them what we could pay her for a fee, they told me they wanted way more but when they got the same reply from all the other promoters in north america they cancelled her tour. so i dont she will be here for a long time.

Johanness Heil could be making his way to our city in the near future but I am actually in talks with the main man of his agency ;) way more important booking for toronto.

I'm surprised Monika is so expensive...I will have to try again to hear her next time I am in Europe. Last September I was over there but she was on a 2 month break from DJing. :(

She has always been one of my favorites.

in reagrds to johaness heil, i saw him at an afterparty for laurent garnier in harpune in germany and he was by far the best live act i have ver seen. he had lke 9 pieces of hardware, no computer and was just going crazy, that man could take out even speedyj and chris liebing together cause he was playing some dirty tech.trance carzy . I cant even classify it. the people at harpune where just going nuts and he has soo much energy and hes a local there. I wish he was a local here :) anyways hopefuly he will be here with someone else from area.

haha well that explains it!
figured maybe you worked with him.

I'm surprised Sims would be that pricey then... not that I expected him to be cheap.. but in the same range as Beyer anyway.

A techno dj I know would play here for a good price and put on an amazing show is Dj Murphy from Brazil. He's not well known here (yet) but he would leave a big impression on people.. no doubt!
phawn
probably same price as beyer with 1/4 the pull.
Braziallian artist =$1200 for flight alone.
Nuff said ;)

yeah but he's willing to play for 1/3 his usual fee and I'd work on getting flight share for a few cities anyway. I remember when I was in NYC to see Joel Mull, Viktor Mizo was helping me to convince an NYC promoter that Murphy is 'technically amazing' and has many guys like Liebing singing his praises. (though Mizo also felt he was a bit too hard for this market)

He's also touring europe every few months now so something could be lined up to coincide when those gigs as well.
I really push this guy because there are so few techno DJs out there like him.. there is always the challenge that he isn't well known... but if I had to choose a DJ to showcase here.. he'd be my choice.
Skipper
Hopefully next spring there will be a good opportunity to flight share on some of the DJs coming over for DEMF...or even WMC for that matter.
Kate Manus
yeah.. though I haven't noticed many promoters taking advantage of all the other solid north american bookings happening the rest of the year other than those events. So many great names have passed by NYC this year alone and many of those had exclusive gigs there... not even any other US bookings.
phawn
thats cause they dont tell anyone they have someone booked. Or they will tell you like 2 weeks before the show.
Skipper
or, because Canada is picky with its techno and it's more difficult to get a guaranteed return (or break even) on lesser known European DJs.
There are a lot of artists I would like to hear, but I want to hear them at a good party with a good crowd...not at an empty venue. some names just aren't going to draw numbers at an independent, one off event.

yeah when I went to NYC again in the summer I bugged Dave about that... you'd think it would be mutually beneficial to try to work out some flight shares. I am sure he would have appreciated some of the savings for his Rachmad/Rob Hood party... which I suspect lost some money.
I'd still like to see Rachmad here though.... I wouldn't be confident the gig would go over well at Aria or whatever, but something like Parking on a Thursday night would be a safe bet.. the place is full every week it seems regardless of the DJ. Too bad Mini has never heard of Sterac!

phawn
well then mini needs to update her techno horizons and most half of
new york promoters gotta lay of the coke and speak with people :)

on another note. I am really pushing meganite to send me riccardo ferri and someone else but definately not picotto.

Ferri would be a solid booking as well.
