thanks for the recent Sven set...
going to give it a listen... not always his biggest fan but Paul and I are tentatively planning to see him at Fuse next weekend for the Sound of the 9th Season tour which kicked off a few weeks ago, so i am curious what to expect.

They have some good podcasts, but I always read the name as "minimal sausages"

Someone else I was talking to at a Box of Kittens party called it that too. I laughed. :p

So it seems Tresor has a new booking manager & pr person, and the long standing resident DJs left in recent weeks....
Hope this isn't the beginning of the end for Tresor 2.0!
(I say that in part after seeing an advert promoting a 12-15 year old event on a tuesday night at the place).

Tough call - I'd want to do more than one! Ruskin, Sims and Rachmad? And I'd be all over the JapTech room like a sumo wrestler on an econo-sized bowl of seafood udon.
Seeing this just reinforces my belief that we are ing weakassed when it comes to this kind of sound over on North American shores.

The Japanese lineup is definitely tempting, but so is the thought of hearing the DJs you mentioned dropping the classics from 97-01 :D

Random musings...
On one hand, I like experiential/noise/glitch, stuff like Panasonic, Alva Noto, etc can be pretty interesting. Not in the 'club/dance' music sense though, but still good.
But, I find stuff like that can be very hit and miss, as lots of stuff sounds as "amusing sound experiments/ideas that are not fully developed". Really, a single increasing tone, and that's it? Then, you also get stuff where it sounds like they are trying to purposely be irritating.
However,at times - when used in a mix and not as a standalone track, they can be pretty damn cool - Hawtin uses quite a bit of that stuff in DE9: Transitions, tracks that might just be a single element looped are built into pretty spiffy tracks.
On the other hand, some of the stuff on it's own can be pretty damn good and enjoyable, just can be annoying slugging through 100 releases of -noise/experimental to find the few gems that stand out as being impressive on their own.
(last night i stayed up way too late digging through Raster Noton releases....)
