| last year we should have had cox playing at a club in the d but instead we had basically nobody playing at any club in the city... Terrence Parker was about the best and not to take away from him but i feel that with demf they def have held back with the afterparties and with the clubs actually supporting the festival... |

Really?
Off the top of my head I can think of 3... The boat, Resolute and Old Miami. |

John Acquaviva had a party Sat Nite...
Loco Dice vs Luciano had the boat party Sun Nite...
Benny Benassi had a party Mon Nite...
those are the 3 i was going to, ended up skipping Benny...
but there were tons of parties...
plus, Bleu closed Jan 09... Bleu always had DJs all weekend long...
this year, Nove in Ferndale had Kaskade and Sander Van Doorn playing but those shows werent as busy cuz Nove was a good 20 minutes from DownTown...
Capital Square, formerly Panacea and Volume had John Acquaviva and Kenneth Thomas...
this year, Vain has been bringing in great talent, Reliv has as well...
both places are DownTown so expect some parties at both those clubs... |

Heck yeah there were.....
There were a bunch of good after parties to hit up that whole weekend. But I guess the issue isn't what's on the 1's and 2's but who's manning them. And yeah I would love to have parties that have a lot of buzz about them because of the name's but I'm mostly there for the people and the music. Just make sure the energy is good, the sound is deep and crisp, the douchebag and attention whore level is low, and the alcohol is cheap and you've got a winner.

No one goes to the afterparties... well the boat party was Paxahau sanctioned... Old Miami is a given...
But most of the afterparties were dead last year for any club that had one, DEAD! The dropped the cover at most places to get people in the doors at downtown Detroit clubs...
The afterparties are the smaller venues usually, or good old back to the house or hotel room with friends for afterparty.
I'm usually pretty spent from a solid day at Hart Plaza... from 2 or 3 in the afternoon till 12,in the sun, dancing... you get pretty tired. Then you gotta go get showered (I hope) and change then get ready for a club... last call is 2 in Detroit, whats the point unless you know of someplace going pretty late.
Closer to the date you get the invites and flyers for the parties. Tons of warehouse and smaller parties come up a few weeks prior.
It's still 3 months away, after parties are still in the planning stages. |

demf afterparties weren't the greatest i'll admit but you can not go as far as to say they aren't/weren't present...there are plenty of them and some have potential to be epic!
st andrew's hall (basement part particularily) in 08 with joris voorn was awesome! and im sure this year they'll have a bunch cuz of the anniversary
, one of the most hated parts of the year is the few months leading up to demf!! such a tease :wtf:
cant wait to hear more details!! |

| For the first two years I've gone to demf, the afterparties were solid and just as good as the festival itself. Last year I didn't go to any, minus the crap of a boatparty. The 9-5, 4 floor afterparty on Jefferson has always been a fav of mine. I usually do this one solo too. Hoping for some good after parties this year. |

I went to that party and compared to what was going on in the bassment no one was paying attention to Christian Smith and Joris Voorn. Stacey Pullen, Kenny Larkin, and co were putting down a pretty good house set downstairs. I'd keep going up and down between the two floors cuz I'm a fan of all involved and was generally disappointed with the few people who actually watched Voorn and co perform. But what they were spinning was prety good.
I went to the after party featuring Totured Soul after Carl Cox was done at DEMF last year (it was at Cliff Bell's jazz club around the corner from the Fox Theater) and the event was packed and a good time for all.
There are sooo many events going on that weekend that some are definitely going to suck. You just have to hope that it's not the event you choose to go to. That at the Leland City Club last year where people had trouble getting in (Ben Sim's Kill You TV 2 event) would count as a ty one IMO. |

First timer here. After reading some old DEMF threads, I knew I had to make the trip out.
I decided to coordinate a visit to DEMF & Chicago where I used live. I'm booked at the Double Tree, but not sure when to arrive & leave. I've tentatively decided to come in Fri nite and leave Tuesday. But to save money & time I could come Saturday and leave Monday, but I don't want to miss anything.
How long do people typically stay?
Thanks. |

The party starts on saturday at noon. Most of us drive from Toronto that morning and checking at 12-1ish. You can avoid the friday nite at Dtree...however, depending on your travel....it might be useful.. |

Thanks. Now I have to figure out whether to visit Chicago before DEMF or after. Since Chicago is for socializing rather than hitting clubs, it probably doesn't matter. |

I normally get in the area on Friday and hang out and stay with friends that night
Then come up on saturday and leave out on Tuesday. I don't go back to work until Thursday though.....too much drinking and dancing to still get back to normal from. |
