I like the fact that I could cook for myself (and whoever wants to stay with us) and don't have to search for food (there is a grocery store 2 blocks away).

Thx Lisa :) I think I might go ahead and book it.

edit: the price per night is for the apt, not per person. That's why I'm not worried about the cab fares. It's actually very close to the Majestic.

I would definitely say go for it then. You sound quite happy with it, and the distance is definitely not that big of a deal. And in return for my advice, you can let me sleep on your couch the next time I go to NYC. lol j/k

this nasty weather outside is just making me crave sunny techno at hart plaza even more!! kkkkkk come on may please :)

I'm not gonna do old miami this year; I'm sure it's a total blast but it's been losing its "magic" the past 2 years from what I've heard. Hotel afterparties FTW!

Exactly 50 days left

I kinda needed the reassurance, one of the people I was going to stay in Detroit with gave me a hard time about it being far and not right downtown (this person wanted to be able to just cross the border walking). We had a reservation @ the Atheneum, but the person who booked it on his card decided to cancel the res and bail on us. Oh well. If anyone needs a place to crash in Detroit last minute, let me know :)

And you're definitely welcome to crash on my couch when I get an apt ;) Kinda tough having ppl over now that I'm living with my in-laws.

I found a place I'm getting a really good deal on that is a couple of blocks away from Comerica Park. Is that absolutely too ridiculously far from everything? Are cabs really expensive/hard to get/not worth the trouble?

Just do like I do. Drive from your hotel to the Hart Plaza (DEMF) and a few blocks out you can pay $10 a day to park your car, its like 4 blocks out. Hope this helps. See ya there!

Why pay to park when you can park on Fort or Shelby for free

Been going to DEMF for six years and that area always has a couple of spaces available. I think folks don't realize that the city of Detroit is closed until Tuesday morning so most of no parking rules (loading, street cleaning etc) dont apply.
Just be there no later than 5PM on Saturday as the crowd for Plastikman should be pretty intense and start building from then til close....parking will be tough. Sunday will be iffy with the parking...Monday should be a breeze.
