I heard Marriot was bunk tho? Only guests on the room could enter and they were very strict with no liqour/beer and if they caught even one infraction ie. noise complaint or any other violation you were out with no warning? |
Honestly, we trashed the room (gera, lol) and had no trouble. It wasn't that bad. |

It is funny that I booked some vacation time today for work and it included the week before DEMF and also the 31st off.
So if Mark and I get our butts in gear and get our passports renewed then just maybe we will be in for a day or two of fun :) |

That's the Courtyard Marriott. The majority of us (incl. myself, Ian, Shelly, Lars, Jay, Graham etc.) stayed at the Marriott Renaissance which is right in the RenCen. The Courtyard is a cheaper Marriott. Same as Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn select.
I haven't stayed at the Courtyard, so I don't know what their policies were. |
AHHHHHHH, the Marriott RenCen is pretty nice, I was there for a night last DEMF when my car was kidnapped, Justin and Matty were there and they snuck us in... pretty swank!
On the topic of hotels..
I just went to Hotwire and it's pulling up 4Star Downtown Detroit hotel for $116 USD night for 29-31...
BUT with hotwire it's usually 2 people, and one bed (queen/king)...
It's not to bad, but for $200 a person for all weekend, i'll chance the border :D |

They wouldn't even have to sneak you in. Like I said, if you're with someone that has a room key you're fine.
I checked Hotwire out too, the only thing I don't like is that it's the "downtown area" and the map is pretty big. I want somewhere CLOSE to Hart Plaza. Like across the street. lol
And King size bed. SCORE! lol The Marriott ones were so nice. I'm so sad it's not accepting reservations. |

Marriot's? Or Hotwire hotels? Hotwire they don't tell you the hotel name, just the general area that it's in.
I'll try calling Marriott's.
***Edit: Both the Courtyard and the Renaissance are SOLD OUT! It has nothing to do with them not wanting DEMF attendees***
, I don't remember booking this early last year. There were lots of rooms available! |

They probably heard you blaring Ferry in the background and out of respect for the festival they decided to tell you they were sold out so you won't come and ruin the sanctity of the festival... |

We all booked around now and rooms were definitely still available much closer to the dates.
We have a room but I would much rather be where friends are. |
