I'm getting there on Friday. Had the option to spend Friday in Chicago where I will be visiting, but decided on getting to Detroit. Tough decision, but I think I made the right choice. |

I am! We're spending the night at my parent's place and running some errands in Windsor before we head over Saturday. If you're coming down on Friday we should meet up at night. |

I'll probably be staying in Windsor that night, but if I venture over to Detroit or you come to our side of the River we could definitely try to meet up!
***ATTENTION PEOPLE WHO ARE PLANNING ON STAYING IN WINDSOR***
Border construction began this week at the tunnel. They're re-doing 4 of the customs lanes on the U.S. side, which means that's 4 fewer lanes for people to go through. Traffic has been BRUTAL, and we've spent about 30 minutes going through the tunnel driving to school every morning - and that's with a Nexus card, so it will take another 30 minutes or so to go through regular lanes.
I'm not sure how long the construction will last - I'm trying to find out, and will be asking the border guards tomorrow. But I anticipate it will be awhile since once they're done the 4 lanes, they'll be doing the others.
Just an FYI if you plan on taking the tunnel bus, while in most years it only take 15 minutes to get over, it'll take a lot longer.
I'll keep you posted in case it's finished by the time DEMF rolls around. I'm hoping they would be smart enough not to do construction during the American long weekend. |
