Because it's not YOUR choice. You don't think someone who kills themselves didn't toss and turn thinking about how it would affect their loved ones?? I don't think it's exactly easy for someone to decide they're going to end it. And what about your selfishness in not being able to understand why someone would feel that was their only option? For some people - depression (or in my buddy's case - schizophrenia) IS a death sentence.
I actually do have to laugh when people get all pissed off/hurt when a loved one kills themselves and calls it selfish. Just shows how far behind so many people are, and why there's still so much stigma around mental illness, suicide, etc. |

Just randomly offing themselves is not the way to handle it though.
Maybe there needs to be a death with dignity law for people who have serious mental issues?
So many suicides though are spur of the moment BS though. Even if they really didn't mean it like Jay, they often end up "accidentally" killing themselves anyways.
I mean, whats your opinion on suicide bombers, if you think suicide is a deeply personal decision? Or the mothers or fathers who kill their children or spouses and themselves. The whole behavior and anything related to it is meant to cause harm and destruction to those that loved that person. |

I actually agree with this, and wouldn't be surprised to see it realized in our lifetime. In fact, I think they do have such laws in the Netherlands or some .
edit: I know there are several US states that have euthanasia laws...but as far as I know they don't apply to suicide or mental health issues, etc. The criteria are very narrow. Up here it's called "advanced directives"...but that really only applies to palliative/terminal people, so it's not really a right to die kinda thing.
I'm not going to engage your other questions, because I simply don't agree with you. I've voiced how I feel about suicide in the other thread. No sense arguing about it. But I think you're dumb. :o |

Personally I think they're just plain dumb. They could have just bombed sans suicide and lived to bomb another day. That would make for a much more efficient Jihad. |

Thats the thing though, suicide is not something that is unstoppable. There is never a reason for it to occur with out some forethought or planning, even in the slightest.
Its not like "oh he had the suicide disease, you know one day he was just destined to pick up a handgun and blow his head off, sucks, what a terrible disease for him to have!"
No they have some other condition, thats treatable, or at least can be controlled to some degree. That or they are mentally weak.
Im not dis-advocating suicide btw. There are plenty of people that I think should do it. I mean as far as DA goes I really am apathetic to it. He tended to creep me out, his actions towards a number of people were very unsavory and I never liked his attitude. But look, Mels hurt, his family is probably hurt, so while I didn't care, he did them. |

Thats not the point though. Its the psychological aspect of a suicide bomber that makes people really scared. These people are willing to kill themselves, straight up with out a doubt die, for their cause.
Also they are not the ones planning the attack... They are just told "go here and press button and you get to paradise." |

Basically what I am getting from this thread is that you all think that killing yourself is perfectly fine if you feel like doing it.
Gotcha. |
