Except you're a ing spoiled brat, not an extremely depressed or mentally ill person (bolded sentence says it all). I'm actually surprised you stepped outside of your own little bubble long enough to consider the feelings of others. Good on you. Let's all give a nice golf clap because you're such an empathetic person. You almost sound like you think what you did was heroic, lol.

I think I figured it out.

This forum is still filled with young adults, very few of you have children or people that rely on you in any fashion.

Great. Families are good. What about people who don't have one (ie, married with kids)?

What if that same person is a father of 3 young children and the bread winner in the family?

As I said before, the diversity of lives of people who commit suicide to too broad for you to make any judgment about everyone.

Seriously, you can come up with tons of examples where it would be unacceptable and tons of examples where most people would think it would be. All that I'm saying is that everyone who is so opinionated about this should just STFU because it's not your life. Some people are selfish that commit suicide, some aren't. Stop trying to paint everyone with the same brush.

Its still a selfish thing to do, but if you arent creating a burden beyond the obvious emotional ones than go ahead.

You people in this thread are demonstrating a number of very disturbing trends that will be the downfall of places like Canada and the United States. This totally selfish attitude that is just unhealthy.

Yeah, I hate selfish people! They're always thinking about themselves and never think about me

How is suicide ever a selfless act? Please describe that. It is always selfish. Always. There is no getting around that.

Obviously you have no qualms that your mother and father would be devastated and your brother probably saddened and maybe questioning if they could have done something? I see Jake. Thats nice.

When you throw yourself in front of a bus in order to save a couple of kids that are distractedly crossing the road?

How's that for selfless?

Sure they would. However my mother, who was dangerously close to suicide a couple of times in the last couple of years, would understand. We've had long conversations about this very subject and she agrees with the rest of us. She also happens to be a licensed, practicing nurse and has had this discussion with countless people who have been in the same situation.

You're just going to have to wrap your head around the fact that you're one of the few people that feels the way you do.
