He was safe. The mistake the ump made was that he didn't see his right hand touch the base behind Jeter. He only saw the left hand and he was tagged before his left hand got in. You could see Ortiz screaming fromt he dugout "I've got two hands!" while waving his hands around. At any rate...

Is there any way to overturn a call in baseball? Like the instant replay challenge in football?
Or is what the ump says set in stone? |

Ok so at this point, what now? Say it does rain tomorrow and the game gets postponed. Who does this benefit more? If they do play tomorrow and Schilling gets into trouble, who comes in from the pen? Who is left to pitch on either team besides the starters for game 6? And if by some way Boston should win tomorrow who starts game 7?
I'm glad to see that the sox decided not to roll over and die after game 3 but there are a lot of uncertain things looming in this series. That and the fact that both games are in Yankee stadium has me really nervous. |

| Arroyo, Wakefield and Leskanic can still pitch today. The Yankees have Vasquez, probably Sturtze... Heredia. |

That's it. What's done is done. I'm not sure though if umpires go back and look at tape once the game is over just to see if they made the right call or not. They probably don't because they don't want to see themselves making mistakes. |

It's going to be a hell of a game 6. The rain will let up tonight. Lets look alittle bit more forward. Yankees drop game 6 and this becomes a cinderella story. From 3 down to tied up game 7. Who is left to swing?
Is John Olerud's presence missed in the yankee lineup? Is yankee 3-4-5 hitter's not getting it done?
Does Boston's Pen look strong enough? Who is left for them in 6 and 7? Mendoza?
What a series...It'll be a close one...

A rainout is gonna help the Yankees. They need their bullpen to be rested.
Is Schilling really gonna be the Schilling everybody expects? Hmm.. I don't know. I don't think so. It's gonna come down to a nailbiter again and some relief guys.
Loaiza? Wow, I'm happily surprised. Before I called him the worst pitcher ever but you can't blame him. He was throwing some wicked sliders/cutters and bringing some more gas, 93 mph, then he was doing in the regular season.
I miss Mariano Rivera... where are you?
I know Tony Clark had a couple of good hits but he is a strikeout machine. We need C3POlerud back. |

| it won't rain out tonight...i like playing tonight game....boston is out of pitching. yankee pitching is pretty hurt themselves but lieber can give us a good 6-7innings. Mariano can throw 1 inning tonight and gordon can throw 1 inning tonight. It's much much better then what boston has got since shelling is hurling today. I like the shelling vs lieber matchup today, I think lieber should win this one on home turf with the home crowd cheering! |

How can Gordon and Rivera pitch? Gordon has gone three days in a row already. Rivera threw 40 pitches two nights ago and threw another 20 yesterday. It is VERY unlikely he will go. And, if he does, how effective will he be?
Both teams bullpens are shot right now. Neither has an advantage. Which ever teams starter gets knocked around first will be the team to lose most likely. |

Yeah, I think so.
Gordon isn't even pitching good. His arm is already tired before last night's game. Rivera is on fumes too already.
Lieber has to be the guy that one would assume would last longer only because Shelling's ankle can't be alright. I saw him on TV last night throwing and he still looked gimpy. But you never know.... |
