Don't forget how bad they were in the early and mid 80's though. Sure I loved Ricky, Willie, Raggs, Winfield, etc, but they weren't a great team and didn't win much of anything. Remember when Pat Kelly was supposed to be the future for the Yankees? What a joke he turned out to be?

I believe he had set the record for most homers hit, 14, in his first 100 at bats as a pro. That was the year, 1990, the Yankees had the worst record in the league and Don Mattingly first really hurt his back. They even made a poster of Kevin Maas.... I know because I still own it. :haha: :haha:  At least the Yanks got the first pick of the draft to select Brien Taylor. Oops.....

It's all about this: Jimmy Key, Dave Cone, Orlando Hernandez, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, Dave Wells, Mariano Rivera, Jeff Nelson, Mike Stanton, Jeff Wetteland.

It's not about this: Kevin Brown, Rick Rhoden, Doug Drabek, Bob Tewksbury, Felix Heredia, Paul Quantrill

I think you guys should sign Strawberry again. :wtf:

Ugh... I just disappointed myself. Everytime I see Straw's name or Doc's name, I cry. The Mets had the makings of one of the most dominating dynasties in baseball. They could've won year after year. Ugh... those two players alone are two of the biggest wastes of talent as you could see in baseball.

Perhaps Josh Hamilton would be up there too... if he made it to the majors before ing up....

Unfortunately, I didn't play or I would have thrown one right into earhole of David Ortiz to back him the off the plate.

The Red Sox won because they were the better team. No if's, and's, or but's. :p

They should have. No reason for him to pound and pound and pound on the Yankees pitching like he did. One or two inside pitches and this series could've been completely different.

However... my biggest qualm with Torre is this: Why in the world did he elect to pitch to Ortiz in the 12th inning of game 4 with Doug Mientkiewicz on deck?!? I think that is the worst move he made in this series... and, yes, that is saying a lot.

I guess he thought Jeff Weaver errr Paul Quantrill could get Alex Gonzalez errr David Ortiz out because he "trusts the guys I got."

Hey Joe, you haven't retired yet....

After Pedro almost leveled Matsui, he went from God himself to Kevin Maas. I swear that fat guy just sat on top of the plate.

Boston's pitching?

Just looking back through this thread. Care to change the word 'Boston' to the words 'New York?' :thepirate

But anyway, just to reiterate, you can tell who the true Boston fans are and who the true Yankees fans are by this thread. The first few pages were Yankee Yankee Yankee with some scattered Sox talk. The second half was Sox Sox Sox with some scattered Yankee talk. The scattered Sox talkers and the scattered Yankee talkers are the ones who seem to really know the most about baseball and that's what made this a great thread from begining to end. Dope thread guys!
