Plain and simple, Hideki Matsui is MONEY!!!!! He is my favorite player.... just so clutch. He's not going anywhere.
Pedro is gonna lose again tonight, I just feel confident about that. It'll be close again and something weird will happen but Yanks will take it.
If El Duque can pitch healthy in game 4 and Kevin Brown is loose for game 3, I don't know...I like their chances against Arroyo and Wakefield. Last night shows that I think Wakefield isn't scary anymore.
Schilling being injured and throwing a weak 89-90 mph is huge. Foulke? Against Rivera? C'mon...
What scares me is that Yankees middle relief. Tanyon Sturtze... I am still not a fan, sorry. An ERA of 5.50 doesn't inspire me, neither does that meatball to Varitek. He's hit or miss and that scares me. Paul Quantrill has been miserable lately too. |

its obvious that we all agree yankee pitching isn't up to par. in the past we had rocket, moose, duque, and wells. nice rotation just not enough run support. This year with the acquistion of A-Rod and Sheffield swinging a whiffle bat makes up for the lost big lefty from the otherside of the plate. If I remember correctly, during the o'neil era, the yankee's lineup proved its diversity from BOTH sides of the plate. Yankees mainly going left right left right..etc.
If I'd had to make acquistions to MY dream yankee team as it would stand right now. I'd get rid of Leiber, Sturtze, and Quantrill for a starter and 2 triple A hurling prospects (mid-relievers) Work gordon into becoming a hard throwing middle reliever and lay my lifeline on Rivera. I'd get rid of cairo and bring back Soriano. And have beltran, sheff, godzilla, and bernie holding down my outfield.
Sierra and Giambi switching at DH
Giambi and Olly switching at the corner
lineup:
jeter, a-rod, sheff, godzilla, giambi, bernie, jorge, olly, and soriano. (giambi at DH, olly at first switch them) or dump Beltran in Giambi's spot, DH Giambi and sit bernie. Giambi moving to Bernie's spot and moving Beltran up to 5th. Honestly I like Giambi hitting 3rd, sheff in 4th, and godzilla in 5th or sheff in 3rd, zilla in 4th, and beltran in 5th.
if we can only dream....you know I am |

| My question was who has the advantage at LF and CF. I can't believe you guys can't just say "Manny and Damon." Ridiculous. |

Your rankings look very solid. Damon and ManRam are better overall but not last night, that's what happens in baseball. Everyone's prognostications go haywire sometimes such as Schilling getting rocked. That's what makes it so interesting. The breakdown by position is interesting, I like that, but that's better for the newspapers because baseball is not just a collection of individuals.
Look at the past teams such as 1988 with the Dodgers beating the vaunted A's. Compare by positions/pitching and the A's should have stomped the Dodgers.
One thing I know, it's nice to have Jeter, Rivera and Joe Torre on your side. Those are 3 that go beyond analysis. |

I wasn't asking in hindsight. Over the course of a season, contracts aside, who would you rather put out there every day?
As for Torre, while I do think he's a great manager, there are many who say he makes some bad moves and he plays favorites way too much. |

I notice that exchange between Senator Al and McCarver too while watching last night. I thought it was funny. I love Al in the booth. |

i'm tempted to try for tix again right now for tonight, but it's just a lil pricey hehe
when I got the tix yesterday, I called up the ticket broker who listed a few tickets on ebay. Since it was 4 hours before the game, he offered me a discount on the tickets...so I snagged two tix for the upper deck at $80 each and went with a coworker. Face value went for $71 a tix :-). |
