Yea not good.
The Leabanese government response to wash their hands of this mess is critically wrong.
I fear the will turn into three fronts.
Unfortunately Arabs will not admit their mistakes, and they did a big mistake in this case. Their stubborness will result in many, many, dead, and most likely all of Lebanon's progress form the civil war destroyed.
It will be interesting to see how the Syrian front develops.
Israel is calling up reserves... |

This is without a doubt the most critical point ever since the beginning of the 2nd Intifada in Sept. 2000. Typical phenomenen: Weakness can be smelt and is instantly takend advantage of. I'm about to cancel my Israel vacation :( |
No need to cancel man... in the rest of the country everything is ok and will be ok. the problems right now is in the north. |

Doesn't Lebanon and Syria support Hizbollah though? I'm not sure, i usually get easily confused about the whole middle east ordeal because alot of it goes back to history.
The hizbollah arsenal...is it just sort of guerilla weapons? RPGs, AK47s and hand made devices? Or a proper rougue army? |
Its not so simple...
They have lots of long range rockets, they use roadside charge (this is what killed the 4 guys in the tank today). its very hard for regular army to fight with a guerilla army and weapons. the terrorists use civilians as a humen shiled.
but if you ask me, i hope that i wont get call in the next days that i called-up to my unit. we should send them back to the stone age again, we should bomb the power station right now, bomb beirut, bomb zidon and tzor, we need to show them that they cant play with us!!! |

Good grief...
I don't want to seem naive when I say, "Why do they bring stuff like this upon themselves" because I know the situation is a lot more complex than that, but honestly... |

Who the Arabs, or the Jews? Well don't worry Israel can defeat any country in the middle east because the US gives money for defense and weapons so thats the way you automatically know that Israel will always win. And even before the US started to help them militarily they could still defeat the neighboring countries. |

Sorry, I was refering to the Hezbollah and the other asshats that feel they have to drag whole countries into this; I feel sorry for the Lebanese people.
I came across this today and I have to concur with the author...

What are the Syrians and Hezbollah thinking? Goad Israel into an attack? Prove that there isn’t much that Israel can do without going into all out offensive war? Get Israel back for Israeli overflights and the 2003 bombing of the Damascus Palestinian refugee camp?
They definitely aren’t winning any support in Lebanon, the West, or the rest of the world.
I’ve been asked a few times to attend rallies in support of the people of Gaza. There’s no way I would go to one of those. If Gazans don’t want to be attacked in a massive Israeli campaign, they’ll return the kidnapped soldier. Nothing better illuminates Palestinian eliminationist ideology than independent Palestinians doing everything in their power to destroy Israel.

There's rumours flying now that Isreal may actually even declare war tonight; on who would be the question...
Also nice to see Kofi Annan roll over on queue...(big surprise)

Annan calls for immediate release of kidnapped Israeli soldiers; condemns Israeli retaliation
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan called Wednesday for the immediate release of kidnapped Israeli soldiers and condemned Israel's immediate retaliation
"I condemn without reservations the attack in southern Lebanon, and demand that Israeli troops to be released immediately," Anna said after a meeting in Rome with
Premier Romano Prodi.
Annan spoke hours after Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid, triggering an Israeli assault with warplanes, tanks and gunboats against southern Lebanon as Israeli troops crossed the frontier to hunt for the captives. (AP)

Did you watch Dateline last night Renegade and PKC? The IDF were shooting at reporters in Gaza to create a media blackout to prevent the rest of the world from finding out what's happening there; one belgium reporter got hit in the center of his fluero yellow MEDIA flak jacket by what they think was a sniper, they kept on firing at the Australian reporter who was surrounded by Palestinian kids who kept on yelling "don't be scared, keep filming" to get the message out to the rest of the world. They showed all these grape crops and orange trees plantations that the IDF Bulldozers levelled that were these families only livelihood, there were IDF Tanks blocking the path to the hospital of three Palestinian ambulances that were filled with Palestinian civilians who'd been seriously injured in IDF strikes. One school that was donated and built by the UN had become a makeshift hospital for the many civilians who'd been injured in Israeli strikes.
This IDF state-sponsored terrorism and collective punishment is disgusting, how does Israel expect to maintain the moral high ground when it's actions are as bad as Hamas?
How many Palestinians is one Israeli life worth? |
