But.... eh. Obama is rated the most liberal member of the senate based on his voting record. McCain is definitely MORE bipartisan than Obama. Can you agree to that? pretty please? |
Please do tell. I don't call voting 90% with Bush bi-partisan in the least. Your pretty please just got ugly..;) |

Palin in February... which would make her 7 mos. pregnant at the time, and looking the part. This is the gayest faux conspiracy in history.

Dude come on! He has championed MAJOR legislation that his own (former) conservative base wanted to murder him over! McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman to name a few. He almost got tossed from the party for his excessive need to appease the other side. Come on man! Why do you think he is called Maverick? :eyes: |

If McCain is 90% with Bush, then prepare for Bush III, that's all I'm gonna say... |

John Kerry said it best.
| quote: | I have known and been friends with John McCain for almost 22 years. But every day now I learn something new about candidate McCain.
To those who still believe in the myth of a maverick instead of the reality of a politician: I say, let's compare Senator McCain to candidate McCain.
Candidate McCain now supports the wartime tax cuts that Senator McCain once called irresponsible.
Candidate McCain criticizes Senator McCain's own climate change bill.
Candidate McCain says he would now vote against the immigration bill that Senator McCain wrote.
Are you kidding? Talk about being for it before you're against it! |

CNBC is reporting that Sarah Palin's daughter is currently pregnant.
| quote: | So that explains the wedding ring I spotted. From the Palin family:
"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.
As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support. "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."
Now all we need is confirmation from the obstetrician who delivered Sarah's baby, Trig. |

While this is a non-issue for 95% of voters, it will be interesting to see how it affects the Christian conservatives who were so excited about this ticket. |

Undecideds seem less than enthused about the ticket though -
| quote: | | Only one person said Palin made him more likely to vote for McCain; about half the 25-member group raised their hands when asked if Palin made them less likely to vote for McCain. They had a negative impression of Palin by a 2-1 margin...a fact that was reinforced when they were given hand-dials and asked to react to Palin's speech at her first appearance with McCain on Friday---the dials remained totally neutral as Palin went through her heart-warming(?) biography, and only blipped upwards when she said she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere--which wasn't quite the truth, as we now know. |
http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/...the_sequel.html
The bridge to nowhere comment stems from the fact that Palin actually campaigned FOR building a bridge to Ketchikan - even going so far as to say she shared their frustration at being called "Nowhere" by opponents of the bridge - and then reversed her position when she realized that Alaska wasn't going to be able to get federal funds for the project. |

Dang, if only Obama spoke about this sooner to Palin's kid:
| quote: | | Obama: We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country. |
Those darn Christian abstinence-only values just got foiled again!
And as for Sarah herself, I'll share a sentiment from my mother-in-law who was an ardent Clinton supporter and who wasn't going to even bother voting this election (boy our arguments were fun!). That all changed when she heard Obama's speech AND when she heard about McCain's pick. Her point, one to which I hadn't even considered was that this gal has a huge family and had a kid with Down's syndrome just recently born. Her last kid will require a great deal of special needs with cognitive and physical delays. What didn't sit well with my in-law was the fact that the last thing a child like that needs is a absent mother who's political aspirations come ahead of the needs of her child. Not only does this not sit well with her, but she feels that the woman who's party always puts family first, let alone Palin's own far Right social conservative values, are seemingly at odds with her actions.
I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sold on my in-law's argument. It's an interesting thought, but considering Palin will likely lose, she'll only be gone a couple of months at most :D. |
