Not that I disagree with your conclusion, but I do take issue with this premise - Reagan was a horrible President, and George Bush Sr. wasn't half bad. In fact, he was probably the best Republican president since Eisenhower.

Bush was Reagan's VP for eight years and his Presidency was defined by poor economic policies and the enactment of ing NAFTA, which has seen the steady loss of good manufacturing jobs leave both Canada and the US for Mexico over the last decade and a half. He also stopped far short of ending Saddam Hussein's reign in 1991 when it would have been much easier than in 2003 and the mess that country is in now.

The 1992 election was pretty much landslide for Clinton and for good reason.

NAFTA was a bipartisan initiative instituted in the final months of Bush's term. There was no difference between him and Clinton on that, and it was never a substantial issue in the campaign.

He stopped short of marching to Baghdad at the advice of his Generals - advice infamously repeated to Bush, Jr. by Generals like Eric Shinseki but ignored.

I'm no Republican, but the elder Bush reversed trickle-down economics, got the national budget trending back on track despite major military engagement in the Middle East, engaged in a pragmatic foreign policy that normalized relations with post-communist countries, and created global consensus on Iraqi acts of aggression without forfeiting that consensus for the pursuit of oil wealth or a permanent American presence in Iraq.

I'd say that qualifies his presidency as the best Republican administration in memory. Granted, it's a rather low bar, but still. Credit where it's due and all that.

Guys...It doesn't matter how she does in the debates. It doesnt even matter how Mccain does. She is a WOMAN and she will be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. This is a very powerful idea, and like it or not..MILLIONS of uninformed ladies out there are going to get out in droves just to vote for her. Even if they loathe Mccain, they will still vote for him..hoping to see him win because of the symbolism of having a woman in such a high office for the first time ever..

This was a brilliant political move by Mccain. I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up 40%+ of former Hillary supporters along with 90% of the "undecided" women voters out there. He's going to take this election in a landslide because of Palin.

There's no way she brings that many of Hillary's supporters to McCain's side. You would have to be really ing uninformed to not see that she's an NRA member, creationist, and she's pro-life. Those don't play well with Hillary supporters.

I should ing hope not! This woman is a religious nutbar more interested in drilling oil all over Alaska than the American electorate. The more I think about it, the more I think McCain might have really screwed himself with her. People say the debates don't matter, but the VP one will be highly interesting. If Biden can keep cool and not get too mean, he could end up making her look like a ing tool.

Well the case could have been made for Saddam's removal then and could have been accomplished. He was firing scuds at Israel at that time too.

But didn't Bush raise taxes on the middle class to stunt the recession of the early 90s? He's definitely a more respected President then his son will ever be, but I'm glad Clinton took over after 1992.

Yay! And look at Obama without a teleprompter!

gotta love editing...uhh..uh.uh..uh.uhh.uuhhh...uaaahh..

Ted Promo
Most shallow pick ever. His ulterior motive is so obvious it's not even subtle in the least :wtf:

that was funny - but those moments aren't nearly as frequent as McCain or Bush. Noone expects everyone to be on point all the time. the problem is McCain and Bush are almost never on point. Additionally, Obama acknowledged his gaffe and actually laughed at himself.

i'm not sure if you were suggesting that the 'uhhs' were edited out, but if that's the case that's just ridiculous. The 'uhhs' were clearly editted into the audio, they were too rythmic for it to be natural, and the resulting sentences (minus) the uhhs made no sense. This man is extremely lucid, i find it hard to believe he could say something for 7 minutes that made no sense.
Shakka
Of course they were edited in! It was just to compare/contrast to the video of McCain with Miss Teen Dumbass.
