It's pointless, and I can't see any good reason to do it coming from anyone in this thread other than someone having a personal preference, and then forcing it upon their child.

Exactly.. It's not a doll you can modify to look the way you like, it's a real person without the ability to tell you how he feels about what you're doing to him. Whether he remembers it or not is not the issue.
MellyMel.. Imagine getting your clitoral hood cut off and the outer labia pulled back so your clit was constantly rubbing/chafing against dry underwear. After a while the skin would become dry and thick and the clit less sensitive. Now imagine it was permanent and irreversible.. that's what circumcision is.
Now imagine someone else did it to when you were a child without asking your permission because they "thought it looked a bit better".. wouldn't you be a bit pissed off?
Also worth noting.. there are surgical risks.. as posted earlier some unfortunate people become disfigured for life as a result. There are no real benefits to the procedure but here are some of the risks (NSFW):

Regardless of how low the risk is WHY are you taking it?.. What's the real benefit?
