Fair enough.. I'd just encourage you read the other side of the literature, the risks of doing it and the advantage of not. And to understand that you and your son can still be Jews without non-consensual genital modification.

Religion, lol.
Now now, gotta have respect for those that believe.

Yea, we should respect religion and all of the things people do in the name of religion.
Like... blowing up other people and all the wars started in the name of religion, and ostracizing gays and lesbians, and not permitting birth control or divorce, and so on and so on.
Yep, because it's a part of religion, we should respect it and say that it's ok to do things like that, including mutilating your child.
Sounds good to me.

Uhh, I am pretty against religion but there is also the matter of respect. Just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean I am going to be disrespectful to those who do.
lol mutilating your child, just shut up Theresa. For s sake, you always start drama.

I can honestly say I never ever met anyone in my life that thought they were mutilated as a child by their parents for getting their wing dinger cut.

Neither have I. I've met guys that wish they still had their foreskin but never did I hear "my ing parents mutilated me as a child". God, whatever, she's just trying to start drama as usual

Actually, the blanket statement you just made is far from true. I agree with you on your points, but you are underestimating the brain's capability to reallocate sensitivity to different cells, especially during puberty.

I have a hard time understanding how people don't view this practice as genital mutilation. I also find it interesting that most people would be against female mutilation, but not male?
The procedure is entirely unnecessary, and founded in illogical reasoning. It was initially started to make male children 'asexual' because it was perceived at the time that the foreskin, being a part of sexuality, was 'unclean' or 'unholy'. Although there are disputes of whether this was the initial reasoning or if there were other postulations, regardless, they all stem from religion and their attempt to control their people.
Then, years later some people started trying to come up with legitimate excuses for this barbaric (definition: without civilizing influences) practice. There is no concrete evidence that supports this procedure.
I am surprised that there are very few males who seem to be outraged by what was taken away from them without any consent on their part. I don't care if you are God himself, if I was born with something I am supposed to have and it is in its natural form and state, you have no right to change that without my sole consent. If I was a male and I had been circumcised, I would be pretty pissed off.
Also, for those of you who question whether it is barbaric or not, I suggest you Youtube some videos. There is no anesthetic used, no pain killers, just lopping it off - if that isn't primitive... well then I don't know.
One of the extra rare times when I agree with you. I'd let my kid decide if he wants it or not. Not my decision

just to stir the pot a little:
for those who are against cutting and say, "it's the child's decision"...what would you do/think/say if the child grew up and was upset that he wasn't cut as a child and wanted to be cut and now has to go through remembering the surgery/pain? i'm sure this wouldn't really happen so often; but what...if?
